Top attackers

Which attackers do you prefer in the current meta? Both gym attacking and raids included. In other words, which mons do you 1) max out, 2) seek good iv:s and power up to 30 (and maybe reroll moves) 3) Power up to 30 (IV not so important)?

For me tier 1 (maxed, IV:s > 90, Optimal moveset): Dragonite, Tyranitar, Machamp, Vaporeon, Rhydon (because of Rhyperior), Gyarados, Exeggutor

Tier 2 (lvl 30, good IV:s if need to power up further, TM:s used): Alakazam, Golem, Espeon, Jolteon

Tier 3 (lvl 30) Venusaur, Scizor, Flareon, Gengar

Tier 1,
I would add Golem (for the legendaries and the raids) and Alakazam (to solo Machamp)
I would remove Gyarados (what do you need it for??)

Gyarados for any Rhydon without Stone Edge. Resists all other Rhydon moves.
Any Gary without Hydropump is useless now.
But I agree Gary should be moved down a tier.

Dark Gary is the best going forward as a number of raid bosses and Legendaries are weak to dark. That being said, there are better dark options.

I like Ursaring a lot, along with Scizzor. Honorable mention for Clefable too.

I don't have armies of Machamps, Dragonites ... just one or two, so I have to be creative.

The ones I like least are glass cannons like Gengar and Alakazam. Tend to miss dodges quite a lot.

My best solo up to now is Arcanine. I just dinged 33.

I am just Missing a 90+ machamp

Tier 2: I would move up Flareon and move down Gyarados here.
Tier 3: I would add Charizard.
That's about it.

I don't understand why Flareon is so underrated. Today my Flareon nearly took down a Bayleef raid boss solo with first Overheat (just needed 3 more Fire Spins). My Flareon wasn't even level 30!
Flareon is also the best option against Venusaur (Alakazam is slightly faster but even more glassy than Flareon), and one of the best against Exeggutor.

I love my Flareon. I don't have a useable Machamp so my 2500+ FS/O Flareon has been my best Blissey killer since I evolved/powered him!

i am still machamp poor and am focusing on gearing for legendaries
t rex for snorlax (and mew/2)
vape for t rex

golem for the birds
when i get spare dust psychics and hurricane dragonites for machamp
machamp as important counter to most majors.

Luckily for me my highest CP 93% Machop rolled BP/DP. Now I just need a quick TM for a guaranteed best moveset.
I also have a 95 IV C/Close Combat.

For me:
Tier 1: Tyranitar, Machamp, Rhydon, Vaporeon, Golem
Tier 1.5: Dragonite, Exeggutor, Alakazam
Tier 2: Jolteon, Espeon, Flareon
Tier 2.5: Venusaur, Charizard, Gyarados, Scizor
Tier 3: Gengar, Arcanine, Omastar

Don't forget Omastar (WG/HP)... it is Tier 1 for Flareon Boss.

Wow, I didn't know that. I have a 2k CP 86 IV Omastar that I evolved during the water event, and got WG/HP. I evolved him only because he had 1k CP already as an Omanyte when I caught him in the wild.

I also didn't know but was present with the guy lvl 35 who tried solo against Flareon yesterday. He tried several combinations with Golems, Rhynos all maxed, then he tried the original suggested team of four Omastars he had ( all ~ 2300 CP ), and one Golem (it was ~ 2700+cp and as the last Rhyno (3000 +). He finished just in time and won Flareon. Omastar was on no internet list as suggested best counter but the practice approved him as the best choice.

Furry Cutter/X-Scissor Scizor doesn't make the cut?

Scizor was mentioned... and I think double bug is it's most useful moveset.

My personal favourites would be Tyranitars, Dragonites and 1 Snorlax and 1 Blissey which I would max. Currently 1 Machamp C/DP sitting at 33.5 which I don't want to pump at this point. With the glitches and unpredictability, my Machamp tends to die prematurely so at this point Tyranitar and Dragonites work better for me.. Rhydon's movesets are really on the slow side.

Most of my other good attackers like Vaporeon, Flareon, Ursaring etc. are sitting at lv30.

Sadly in my area, gyms are the usual 6 and with the one raid a day, I try to go after lv 4 raids where possible.
