Too late to power up grass attacker?

My best grass attacker at the moment is a level 31 91% eggy with E/SoB. Just evolved another egg to a level 28 80% eggy with E/SoB. Have a couple level 20 but no solar beam

No luck with Venusaur and all are at level 20 and no solar beam.

With the goal to solo level 3 bosses, should I charge TM/power up another eggy/Venusaur?

Also hatched a l20 96% tangela with grass moveset long time ago.

I have level 35 Vaporeon, l35 B/HP Gary, l30 Raikou, l30 Zapdos and generalist l35 Dragonite

If you already have Golem Machamp, Rhydon and Tyranitar with good moves, plus more than enough TMs/stardust/candy, go ahead. Otherwise, focus on those first.

Not sure of your biome, but in mine Eggys are relatively easy to find. At 50 candy a pop, it's easy to find/evolve a handful of high level battle ready eggs. For soloing, it sort of helps to have low def/high att in your grasses, so they need not have great IVs. Also Since Vap/Omastar have such bad fast moves you don't even need lots of hp either.

TL/DR try and evolve some high att eggs and don't bother investing more than candy.

Personally, I'd fast-TM those ES/SoB Exeggutors. Then you will have two of the best grass attacker in the game. ES/SoB is a decent generalist attacker, but there are so many other generalist attackers that are better. Just yesterday, I fast-TM'd an ES/SoB that I've had for over a year (it originally had ZH, which I fast-TM'd a few months ago and got ES). I never really had a use for it, since I have better gym sweepers and Blissey killers.

Soloing Omastar requires at least five strong grass attackers, in my opinion, so TM those Eggys and Venusaurs, and start building that team. Double grass Victreebels and Vileplumes are good too. A CP 1900 Victreebel will do better than a CP 2800 Raikou against Omastar.

Thanks. Not likely I can solo omaster if it requires five strong grass type. But I will go ahead and fast TM at least one of my eggy to grass moveset.

While Eggy was out as a raid boss, I did a lot of them when I couldn't find a better raid. Now that Omastar, Golem, and Suicune are all raid bosses, the utility of a pure grass attacker is really high, and I expect Eggy to move up the Attackers list at the next update.

Personally, I'm keeping my generalist Es/SoB eggys, and taking a couple of the higher IV BS/SoB eggys I raided for and powering them up. For normal stuff, Es/SoB is a little stronger than BS/SoB (and C/SoB is a bit stronger yet). For things that are singly weak to Grass (Suicune, Vaporeon, other regular water mon), BS/SoB is a little better than Es/SoB. But for double weakness like Golem, Rhydon, and Omastar, the Grass double moves are the bomb.

I disagree that Eggy isn't a good generalist attacker. The power of Solar Beam with STAB is best in the game - better than Overheat, better than Hyperbeam, Zap Cannon, or Future Sight. Anything hit for base 216 damage is in trouble unless it double resists grass. And if it's weak to grass, that's killer. The two mon I have with the most battle wins are a 96% Dragonite DT/O, in second, who is just edged out by a 91% Exeggutor with Es/SoB. Water isn't as dominant as it used to be, but it's still a powerful type, and will be around for a while. Kyogre, Milotic, Swampert, Walrein, and there's more in Gen 4 and beyond, so strong double grass attackers and psychic/grass generalists are both powerful tools to have in your poke box.

Thanks for your insight. So between eggy and Venusaur, I should go with eggy?
