TM SP Gengar?

I have a 100iv level 30 Gengar with SP/SB, for the sake of soloing tier 3 raids how better would it be to change it to Hex? Full disclosure I have a 95iv lev 30 H/SB, and a SC/SB 70ish iv with 14 Atk but level 24.

I vote for the SC/SB

When I have more available stardust and other projects are powered up I do plan on boosting him.

I asked a similar question during the event & someone ran the pokebattler simulation & said Hex & SP are within a second of each other

I personally like sucker punch better for dodging. In the Sims sucker and hex does about the same damage. Shadow claw just blows both of them out the water tho. Sc/sb is the highest neutral dps in the game or maybe 2nd now to mewtwo. I think sp has a breakpoint at 31.5 I think and hex at 34 against gengar.

I have enough Gengars and Gastly candy so Im leaning more towards Machamp and Alakazam raids for this one.

Sucker Punch isn't much different to Hex actually, even considering the STAB bonus, in theory Sukcer Punch slightly does more DPS, and still has great energy gain. 11.43 is lower than 12.5 but still a high value, plus Sucker Punch is better for dodging.

Against Alakazam, Hex will be slightly better as it maxes at 12 damage and Sucker Punch maxes at 7, so both deal 10 true DPS (12 damage / 1.2s vs 7 damage / 0.7s) but Hex has higher energy gain.

Against Gengar, Hex maxes at 15 damage and Sucker Punch 9, so 12.5 DPS vs 12.85, again Hex has better energy gain so they're about on par with each other.

Pokebattler simulations put them on par with each other - against some movesets Hex is faster, sometimes Sucker Punch is, but even then, they're very close to each other.

If you're going to use Gengar against a Machamp, Hex is better for sure though, dealing neutral + STAB damage while Sucker Punch gets resisted, but Gengar's not really a top counter, there's other Pokemon that can replace it.

Yes its for Alkazam and Machamp, so while SP is fine in Alakazam matchup, Hex is better for Machamp?
How many Gengar are optimal in Machamp and Ala solos?

For machamp gengar is not optimal as he deals neutral damage. I wouldn't use more than one and only against double fighting moves.

Yes, psychics are the best choice against Machamp. A Gengar is just something to bring as your 6th if you don't have anything else. It works but there's better options.

Think of it like a relay race where Gengar's the slowest on the team, but you still need it to finish the race.

Hex is better due to it having STAB and not being resisted, while Sucker Punch is resisted.

Though like I said before, a Gengar with Hex is not necessary against Machamp, it's not a fast counter, it's just a Pokemon that gets it done just in time, and only useful against a double fighting moveset.

So if you already have an optimised team, then you're not missing out on anything because none of those Pokemon would be replaced by a Gengar if it had Hex anyway.

Not sure on Alakazam, I'm not able to solo it, but I know that Shadow Claw Gengar is the best thing for getting ahead of the timer, and you'd be better off powering that one to 30.5 instead since that's when Shadow Claw reaches it's maximum damage with 14 attack.
