TLDR: Is dark or rock Ttar better?

I don't have many good dark or rock attackers. I've got a few Rhydons with rock and ground moves, but they don't have great IVs, and they're not leveled. As for dark, the only good Pokemon I have is Gyarados with double dark. The next best is Houndoom.

I've never gotten a Ttar before. I just caught a max attack Larvitar with good IVs. I'll only have enough candies to evolve 2 Ttars, and I want a Smackdown Ttar and a dark move Ttar. Should I make my highest CP shiny Larvitar into a smackdown Ttar or my max attack Larvitar?

The answer is obviously your best IV one. Shiny is nice to have but that's it! I would priorize rock tyranitar for now. You can always get dark ones later on.

Just to let you know. Hundoom is better than Gyarados as a dark type attacker.

Both versions rank as the strongest of their kind at the moment. You can't go wrong with either of them, but I'd make as many Smack Down Tyranitars as you can since they have limited availability. You have plenty of time to get Dark-focused one later on.

It's a tough call. Double-Dark Ttar has been useful for so many different raid bosses and more to come, especially if you're into that EX raid nonsense.

On the other hand, Double-Rock Ttar will be pretty good against almost anything with wings.
