I have been trying to make full use of my Alkazam, but mostly, I buzz through about 90% of an opponent, then miss a dodge, and "poof" he is gone. Any tips for how to improve my anticipation of opponents moves? When to expect a charge move? Do I just need experience with all possible opponents and their movesets, or are there some general techniques?
For charge moves with the damage phase late in cooldown, I just dodge like crazy until I see the "dodged", and this works ok. Opponents seem to have different "flashes". For the quick moves I see a flash and dodge, but don't always have a good sense of how many Psycho Cuts I can get in before I have to dodge. Dragonite with DB and Snorlax with lick seem like easier mon to practice with, because they can soldier through, but Alakazam seems cooler. So, I keep trying.
Also, tips about when to use psychic would be appreciated. The cooldown for psychic is 2.8, which means I will get hit with at least one quick move, I think. Once it is charged, I can usually get off three psychics before I have to recharge, but this is a really good way to miss dodging a charge move. Should I just use one psychic after an opponents charge move, just use it as a finisher, or not use it at all?
