Tier 4 Gengar duo guide

This is more a question for Gamepress team - will you prepare a Tier 4 Duo Guide for Gengar? Most players in my community are having a headache to allocate time for the unexpected event, and none of us want to miss out. I need to rely on my son’s L31 account with good counters, and not sure we can make it. I can do a Tier 3 solo very easily even in Cloudy weather against Sludge Bomb and still have over 30 seconds on the clock, but his account isn’t that ready... Thank you!

I don't think you can make it with a low level account. With BF bonus, the only level 30 Pokemon that are viable are Mewtwo and SC/lick Gengar.

An army of alakazam/Espeon/sucker punch gengar should be alright in 4/6 cases.

Shadow ball is the tricky one.

That or try looking for fog or windy weather.

If it was me: start a second account: raid a Gengar with your main account and Transfer 15 gengars. Borrow a iPad or extra phone during the event and trio it.

The main problem for me is at which level the counters make a duo viable, not their availability. I have plenty to transfer to my son if need be, but he has a cap on L33, maybe 34 after this week. He has 1x L33 SB Mewtwo and Psychic Mewtwo, and some others at L20 that he can still power up. The battle simulator says I can do more than half the damage and still have 72 seconds left, maybe more if I use the empty party trick. It’s really borderline :)

I have to rely on the same. He has 3 SB Mewtwo and will be filling in the rest with SB Alakazam while i do the rest. In neutral weather with best friend it's close but duoable if i read Sims right.

It seems we don't need to worry anymore - all Gengar caught or evolved will have the moves, according to this:

We'll still take our chances at the duo, but without hard feelings if we miss it. At least my son will finally be able to evolve his lucky Haunter, as I had forbidden him to do it in anticipation to something like this happening :)

Ttar reach his final breakpoint, which make him viable, at lvl 30.5 with BF. If you can trade him a few of those you might make it against non FB Sets.

We’re only ultra friends as my son doesn’t play every day. I was planning to TM all Mewtwo into Confusion too, as Gengar will hit hard enough to build up the energy, it’s 1.5x more DPS and dodging seems to delay more than help in such tight situations. Since reenter is unavoidable, I’ll prepare 2 DPS-centered parties, which I hope will be enough from time point of view. If I’m still not able, I guess I’ll have to cheat and use a friend’s credentials on my wife’s phone, but I really want to avoid this...
