Thoughts so far on the prestige tweak?

Early days, but I'm positive about the tweak. Gyms seem to be attracting lower level players again and lasting a bit longer whilst not being impregnable with reasonable effort.

MUCH better. I was gettiing so unbelievably tired of seeing 50 CP Magikarps in gyms. It was so sad knowing that putting defending Pokemon in not only made no difference, but was actually bad for you. Since the gym would be gone in 30 minutes it just meant more use of potions/revives.

Now there is at least SOME incentive to power up a gym, and to work on solid defenders. Sure, it can still be toppled by one determined player, but at least it won't be a lvl 4 gym that takes them 3 minutes.

In our area at least so far it seems like things are working out nicely. Each team has one level 10 gym so far but the middle gyms in town all still turning over - but at least I'm seeing some get to lvl 7 or 8 and last a day before they switch.

It's became alot more work for training gyms. Trying to gain 8000 - 10,000 prestige could take 30-60 mins. And if you're high level and you worked your butt off to train a gym then it gets knocked down by 2 low levels.. its pretty annoying. I enjoy the diversity but it makes being high level useless in the gyms besides the fact that you can have higher cp. Anyone can take down any gym as long if they have enough attackers or potions/revives. I don't even try to train gyms as much any more because I know they'll probably be taken down in the same day. I think they should have allowed training to be 1000 max not 500 like before the patch. Otherwise.. attackers will always have the advantage. It was more fun to be able to train a gym while someone is attacking it and you're able to build it up so they can't take it down right away. Hopefully PVP will drop soon, only thing I see in redeeming the battling content of the game.

They changed the Gym Mechanics again? how is it now? what have changed? i cant find anything on http://pokemongo.nianticlabs.com/en/ (i was traveling).

So now if i start training the gym with a team of 6 pokémon all with half of the lower's defender CP i will gain 1000 prestige per pokémon defeated and 10% XP of the total prestige won?

They reverted the changes and the max prestige per Pokémon is back to 1,000.

Oh nicee!!!. And how many prestige a enemy gym lost per pokémon defeated? still 1000 per pokémon + 1000 of the bonus if all pokémon are defeated?.

It is still too easy to knock them down. Sure with the new prestige gain you can make gyms lvl 6 or 7 or 8 but even at those levels its so easy to knock them down still.

Yeah, my level 7 gym eventually knocked down in several hours before the update.

Another thing to also consider is with the double exp event, there are TONS of new Level 25+ players and as most people attack gyms after level 20+, there are also now a lot more people wanting to attack gyms with all their mons...

I see tons of new names around my area and most gyms still don't stay up since again, they were never hard to take down...

I think they should change attacking and prestiging to number of mons in a gym.

3 defenders, you can only use 3 attackers max...maybe less prestige loss if you can't full clear to make it more like a 3 on 3 battle, etc...

You DO get +2k per putting a mon down so prestiging is still easier IMO than attacking even with lower CP mons.

There are 7 gyms near me and I have control of them all every morning. I usually lose them by late afternoon. I must make the decision to either retake them or wait until the next morning. I try to keep them level 3 or below. If one goes to a higher level, I knock it down to level 1 or 2. When I travel beyond my sphere, I find gyms to hop on for free or take level 1 or 2 gyms. I rarely try to power up a gym as that seems to take a lot more effort.

Until now the gyms in my city doesn't last longer as before. But I like fighting high level gyms. That means more ep :)
Yesterday I build up 6 gyms from 0-10 with a friend. Today we made 3 in no time. I thought it was easy before the update. But now it take no effort, rather you raise it up or tear it down. The little color wars are just like before.
