They need to fix how people get rewarded for taking gyms down!
Earlier this morning I went on a quick gym takedown run. I took over 3 gyms. And then on my 4th gym, I took down 95% of the gym. There was one Pokemon left that needed to be battled one more time. All of a sudden, a crappy 1990's car pulls up and takes down the Pokemon and HE gets credit for taking the gym down! He puts in a crappy Pinsir! I laugh & beat it two times with ease, then he used a golden berry on it. I could have sat there and kept on taking it down. Hell, all of my Pokemon could take it down, but I was running short on time. I told him, I'd let him have it since I already have 3 gyms taken over with my best defenders (2 Blissey's & a Snorlax).
I think it's absolute BS how he got credit for taking down that gym. AND A PINSIR? ROFL! LEVEL 25 n00b. SMH.
I forgot to mention. The gym was originally a Valor gym. I'm team Mystic. The person that took it down is on team Instinct.

Doesn't matter who the teams are. Around here, Valor seems to have the most number of utter jerks who do that sort of thing. Mystic is the main team, and sometimes I wonder if they believe that they can just keep everyone from having any coins at all if they just hold the gyms for weeks on end. Instinct (my team) tends to come through once a week, take down a bunch of gyms, then let Valor and Mystic fight (or just let Mystic sit on their gyms) until it's time to take the gyms back.
When I do take down gyms, I tend to take them down around 11pm so that I can have a chance to hold the gym for 9 hours, and only do that once or twice a week. The rest of the time I'm quite happy to walk by the Gym with 6 Mystic Pokémon that are being regularly fed berries, so they have 75% motivation after being on the gym for 3 days, and simply spin the stop and walk on. No decent reason for me to take down a gym that they're going out of their way to make tough to take down.
About three weeks ago I met someone taking down a gym I was in (I was going to spin it). We had a pleasant conversation, and i said that I would leave his mon and not attack it immediately. We both carried on, and about 20 minutes later I saw that the third team haf knocked him out of the gym. So I went and reclaimed it for me.
A bit of personal interaction and a bit of respect for the other teams can go a long way.
