TDO*DPS has changed in spreadsheet

Hello everyone

I have seen that the DPS*TDO metric in the spreadsheet has changed to DPS^3*TDO. What does this change means for raiding? Before, I used DPS*TDO, but the current values are much smaller now. Can someone explain me this change please?

Thanks!

It puts much more weight onto DPS, as you should when choosing raid counters. DPS^3*TDO is probably a much better metric than DPS*TDO for actually ranking pokemon effectiveness.

I don't like using an arbitrary ranking like that as it doesn't portray anything that's actually measurable. The best counter is generally the one with the highest DPS, as long as it isn't extremely frail.

I think metrics like DPS*TDO are an attempt to measure the cut-off point for "extremely frail". I think something like TDO/DPS would be worth mentioning since it (theoretically) gives a number in seconds for how long a Pokemon survives.

Thanks for your answer! Personally, I use DPS*TDO (now DPS^3*TDO) when doing a tier 5 raid and pure DPS when I solo tier 3 raids. I think that you are correct that it is a much better metric. However, I am not sure about pure DPS when fighting against legendary pokemon. I feel that I lose a lot of 'mons and do not do significative damage.

That's interesting - I do almost the exact opposite. During a tier 5 raid I want to have my highest DPS battlers to do the most damage in the time of the raid to get the most damage balls I can. Often the tier 5s I do are with a higher number of people and we beat the boss before I get through all 6 in my team. But when I try to solo tier 3s I want to avoid re-lobbying so I tend to value some of my tankier options higher than normal.

I don't know how to really effectively measure the damage lost by fainting, but I think the "swap discount" on the DPS/TDO page tries to compensate for that.

Remember that TDO = DPS * time (in seconds, before fainting).

For gym offence (and beating berry feeders), TDO matters more than DPS, because total time taken includes both time in battle and time spent healing.
