Take a day off for evolution items?

I read somewhere that there's a theory that evolution items might be tied to the day your 7 day streak lands on. Has anybody tried this?

Today was my lucky 7 and I got my 9th upgrade. I'm willing to abstain from pogo tomorrow if it means I can break this curse.

You will always get an evolution item on your 7th day streak. Other than that, you have a very slim chance of getting an evolution item anytime when spinning a stop.

Evolution items are purely random. There are tables that tell us the drop rate for each evolution item but I'm too lazy to search and copy/paste it here. Using mobile.

My 7th day is each Sunday, it's been that way since the start. I've gotten the following, in something like this order:

Kings rock
Sun stone
Upgrade
Metal coat
Sun stone
Dragon scale
Kings rock
Sun stone

Point being: I don't buy into that theory, unless Sunday is a good random day.

I think I read the pokestop influences what you get, I had the same problem getting 5 upgrades, I noticed this might be because the first stop I spin in my town is not special, and it usually has bad spawns, so I went to places with rare spawns and I got the dragon scale and sunstone I needed in the weeks after, yesterday I forgot about it being my streak,

I spun a 'normal' spawn stop in the city and I got a metal coat, a 'bad' one because I get it often too
