Symbols for move type
Almost all the symbols i used to identify what moves a Pokémon has are gone

I know the symbols come in handy but you're probably better off using short cuts of the attack names rather than move type symbols.
For example:
Alakazam with Confusion and Future Sight -> Alaka CFs
Dragonite with Dragon Tail / Outrage -> Drag DTO
max. number of caracter for names is 12 btw.
And so on. You can adjust these to your likings. This will help you especially if you have several 'mon with the same move types but different move names and powers.
I used to do that too, but found it even easier to interpret if I made use of upper/lower case conventions. An easy thing to do is make your quick attack moves all lowercase.
Dragon Tail/Outrage -> dtO
Confusion/Future Sight -> cFS
For charge moves, I capitalize the first letter of each word, but sometimes need to disambiguate with a lower case letter from the same word.
Confusuion/SolarBeam -> cSB
Confusion/SeedBomb -> cSd
Now however, for alphabetical sorting reasons, I have gone back to simply marking the move type, but still use upper/lower case. Upper case if it is the ideal move of that type, lower case if it is an inferior move of a type.
Vaporeon:
water gun/hydro pump -> WW
Water gun/water pulse -> Ww
I label all my mon strictly by move type and IV. For example DB/DC Dragonite gets (DRG/DRG) 89. This is especially helpful for prestiging because you can quickly grab what you need without clicking out of the “choose” screen to check your mon because sometimes mon have different moves than their typing aka Arcanine with Wild Charge (the wackest of wacks). I am not going to sit here and memorize the names of moves and abbreviate that way. The attacking in this game is a joke, so all I need to know is that my moves will be super effective against what I am attacking. Differentiating between a DT and a DB Dragonite is a first world problem.
I've always used the basic symbols available on my phone's keyboard, and learned pretty quickly what stood for what (especially since nearly all mons only have a few options for what their move types could be).
For example: " for grass, @ for psychic, # for fighting, $ for dragon, ^ for flying, & for ghost, * for steel, = for fairy, ~ for water
This method may not be as aesthetically-pleasing as alternatives, but it's quick and those symbols probably won't disappear/change over time.
I've found the fastest is just using voice command - backspace over the name of the pkm and dictate e.g. WG [slash] AT [dot] 142 for a vape with 142 HP, will display WG/AT.142. The HP is useful for potion estimates if resources are tight, tbh not that useful either. I've stopped including percentages or IV except for potential defenders that I'm considering for evolve/power up - so my Chancey was named 93% 543 for A-D-S of 15/14/13. Now that she's a Blissey and in gyms her name is the name of the gym she's defending (slow turnover suburbs).
[Edit] I've also experimented with just naming the charge move, eg electric types with thunder are named Thor!, or vapes named "PUMP". Hopefully the gym rework will include additional folder/sorting options...
