Summarizing CD

For trainers in Europe and America, you can skip the content as this only reflects the disaster in Asia.
As a player in Asia, I guess I am as excited as most trainers around the world, especially when Meteor Mash is deemed the "over-powered" Steel move.
Event ended in a complete fiasco.
Don't know how the Shiny rate works but me and my bud caught the same Beldum but ended up he got 8 while I got only 2 during the short-lived 1 hour event. Alrighty, that's just bad luck.
Then the event died literally after just 1 hour when everyone was staring stupidly at the screen that showed awesome landscape, river and parks and sh!t but nothing else.
To add cherry on top, the animation of Meteor Mash is kind of a comical relief, just like some kids drawing stars with crayon and rain down on the opponent. I know it has nothing to do with the usefulness of the move but this one is no where as cool as Blast Burn as it bakes the enemy to death.

I feel for you. All hyped for the event then having it denied for 2 hours can't be fun. I understand you're getting a repeat of the day sometime in the future though.

Shinies are pretty random, basically something like a 1/21 chance that each individual spawn will be shiny for you. There's no guarantees, so it can lead to some people being luckier than others. I myself had zero for the first two hours, then five in the last.

Community day shinies are amusing to me. In the first hour I found 3 or 4 where my fiancee didn't see her first until after the first hour had passed, yet we both ended the event with 5 each.

Randomness. You'll always be able to find someone who got a lot or very few, and people who ended up on average, but had all their success at the beginning, or the end.

Personally, my fav for Beldum CD was when I walked down a lesser used street (not many stops) and managed to have a run where I caught 8 Beldum and 5 of them were 82%+ ('battle with the best of them' in Instinct speak). Probably got two others with IVs that good the whole day. Randomness: the only thing you can count on is that you can't count on anything.

Oh I know. it doesn't make it any less amusing though. On Bulbasaur day I found 6 shinies while my fiancee found none. I know a guy who yesterday bagged 22 shinies which is completely absurd. On Mareep day I played in a lower-spawn area and only found 2 shiny while my fiancee found 4 or 5. Randomness is amusing.

I live in Hong Kong and experienced everything you say on close to a monthly basis. A genocide against the asian pacific playerbase sums this up. This is a crime and Niantic should be revoked ALL developer rights and ownership by Nintendo because they sre literally sullying the Pokemon Brand.
