Suggestion: Odds calculator?

Personally I think an Odds calculator to see what odds of you achieving better IV pokemon of the same species it a good indicator of whether to power something up or not.

Simply put, it's the combinations of IV combinations that are better than yours (if you have a 98% 15/15/14, the only combos that beat it are 15/15/15 and maybe 15/14/15), divided by the total IV combinations for a single roll (for raid encounters and eggs it/s 6*6*6=216 combos). So, the odds of getting a better than 15/15/14 is either 1/216 (0.5%) or 2/216 (1%).

You can modify it with simple statistics by taking the (1-odds) and take it to the power n of how many raids/eggs you plan to be doing/hatching.

I've always set my IV bar at 96% for power ups. Of course, some do higher, some do lower. I personally do this for two reasons:

1. The odds of encounting a higher %IV is tiny (3 combos of 98, 1 combo of 100 and max another 5 combos of the other 96s'). That gives 8/216= roughly 4% chance of getting a better mon for your next roll. Not a lot. When you drop the bar to 93%, the odds become (1+3+6+9)/216= 19/216, roughly 9%, approaching 1 in 10.

2. If I do power it up, and encounter better on the way, I still won't be too gutted as it a max 96% still unlikely to be ever wasted in anyone's top 6 of that species.

At this point I've got what I need to be relevant in the game (2 good TTars, a good dragonite, a good Machamp, two good Golem, a good Raichu, a good Entei and a long list of other serviceable attackers) so I'm no longer going to evolve or power up anything unless:
1) I get a perfect one
2) It's a community day featured mon that has an exclusive move that is meta relevant
3) to complete a dex spot for a meta irrelevant mon for which it's IVs and moves will never matter.

It's only really down to doing some duos or trios which need more than one copy of the competitive same species, some or all of the maxed out, to be achievable:

Off the top of my head:
Ttar Duo
Aggron Duo
Lugia Trio in rain/Lugia Quad without weather boost
Jolteon Solo
Claydol Solo
Mewtwo Duo on select movesets

But of course, if you don't care about any of that, then it is perfectly fine to leave power ups as is. I personally will pump up any 96%+ that can help me with any of the above.

Since you mentioned weatherboosts with Lugia, I feel the need to point out that Aggron and Mewtwo duos are only possible with weatherboost also, otherwise they are trioable.

Could be useful, but there should be iv preference setting, say I prefer 15/15/13 over 14/15/15.
Otherwise you only need pretty short table:
98 - 0.5
96 - 4
93 - 10

What I see more useful is similar calculator for useful abundant species, which people normally don't power up, like makuhita / spheal. Such estimation is way less obvious since wild pokemon also differs by level.

Hey i like your idea! Normally i count and do the math alone. It will be good to have the calculator to help!
