Stopping gym shaving

In my area we don't seem to have too many spoofers tearing apart gyms, but we have TONS of gym shaving.
I've been shaved out of at least 4 gyms this week alone. It's really aggravating since I'm the one who took those gyms over in the first place and we have a limited number of gyms.
I've been trying to think of a way to stop, or at least slow down, the shavers. The only thing that I've come up with so far is this:
Once a high level (8, 9 or 10) gym is attacked and the first mon is knocked out, put a time delay on the gym so that it can't be prestiged back up for XX (30) minutes.
If only 1 mon is knocked out, and the attack stops, then the timer prevents the shaver from immediately prestiging the gym back up and putting their own mon in it. If 2 or more mons are kicked out, then cancel the timer. If someone attempts to prestige the gym WHILE it is being attacked, preventing the loss of mons, then cancel the timer.
While the timer is active, the gym could be marked as on timer by a different color or symbol, letting people know that it has been shaved.
I seriously doubt that a shaver will sit there for 30 minutes to wait for the timer to elapse.
Thoughts? Other ideas?

I think getting rid of Multi-Accounts is easiest. To be honest i feel like People with Multi-Accounts are the people holding back trading. People should be stuck to 1-2 accounts. I understand the second if you wanted to start over or whatever. But some people go around town with 4-5 phones different account on each and 1 person fills up half a gym.

Well, the main problem is that there isn't really a way to get rid of multi-accounts, unless you make it so that only one account can be used per phone or something.

They could limit per active device but there is no real way to limit multiple devices other than folks being reported. They cannot track whether one person is holding two phones or two people are close to each other.

For me the most simple solution would be to actually prestige down the same amount needed to prestige up in order to kick the mon.

For example, for adding the last mon to a gym you have to prestige it from 40k to 50k, so to kick the bottom one you should take it down from 50k all the way down to 40k, this way if someone shaves it, then he/she has to prestige it all the way to 50k again in order tu put his/her mon inside.

This would make shaving not easy and fast as it is now, it will need a lot more resources and time and gym shavers will probably start looking for other friendly or enemy gyms to place their mon.

Can you actually understand what I meant? How the gym meta would be level 9? Then you actually need to go from 40k to 30k to kick the next one and so on...The same as you need to prestige it up.

Probably you should at least make sure that you understand people comments before saying stupid things like that you just said.

I think would lead to a lot of confusion as to if a gym could be prestiged up to place a PKM, or not... there could be a gym at 40K with 10 defenders that could not be prestiged (for placement), or a 30K gym might need 20K prestige to add another defender...
A one PKM per gym rule would also be a huge disincentive if the potential shaver could not simply add yet another high-CP 'Nite, and would have to pick a lower-CP mon that could be an easy target for the next shaver, let them fight it out amongst themselves at the bottom of the gym!
I'm eagerly awaiting Niantic's brilliant (!) solution to this problem....

Explain why the meta would be level 9. You already need to prestige to 50k to put the 10th defender in.

I like this idea in regard to how it would stop shaving. I don't think a shaver would take 10K out of a gym, then put 10K back into it in order to replace a 1500 Typhlosion.
The problem I have with this method is taking down enemy gyms. Taking out 10K in prestige to reduce the headcount by only 1 enemy would mean that I, as a solo attacker, would probably spend about 60 minutes and over 50 revives and potions to take down a level 10 gym. I would have to run the full 10, 9 or 8 gym twice in order to remove a single defender. Which really means, I won't attack them any more. Leading to even more static gyms than we have now.

That would make that 21 cp Magikarp at the bottom really annoying...

LOL. I was going to use a pidgey in my example, but went with the Typhlosion. Karp is even better!

Not really. You could just quickly attack the magicarp 10 times. In fact, this would make t even easier to drop a gym to level 9. You could remove 10k prestige with the magicarp instead of just 1k.

The point is you would still need to battle that Magikarp 10 times to get rid of it. Maybe a Chansey at the bottom would be more annoying?

This honestly seems easy to code and Niantic is really dropping the ball to not just fix this, even WITH the gym rework...

If people want to prestige and put a karp on the bottom, by all means, LET THEM. There'll probably be more gym diversity if you have to knock it out 10 times, but honestly, a Chansey or the normal Blissey, Snorlax, etc...are all better in the bottom slot...

Gotta admit each passing day, Niantic seems to be dropping the ball to not fix things that should be fixed IMO (like prestige gym sniping).

Something that could work is if there were CP Tiers in gyms:

Three Pokemon: No CP limiter
Two Pokemon: 2950 is maximum
Three Pokemon: 2700 is maximum
Two Pokemon: 2550 is maximum

This way you could have the Pokemon still in order of CP. Since people would want to grab the highest CP slots earlier on, the people on bottom would be the 2550 or lower. But since the shavers would only take out that bottom Pokemon, the only available "CP Slot" they could take out is the one they just opened: 2550 or lower. Therefore shavers would always end up as the bottom two slots on gyms.

It doesn't necessarily stop it, but it means they can't just stick a big Pokemon and hide behind their teammates that they just sabotaged.

Neat. What if I take over a gym and the best I have is 2,500. Do I just get the worst slot?

problem is stagnant gyms
without shavers the gyms still are stagnant

in both cases some ppl will never get coins
even shavers get coins or players who dont have chance to visit gym before its level 10 wont get coins

both situations suck

this game design problem only

It is the only thing I don't have a clear solution on. I am in the same boat as you. It is really frustrating when you were the one to take the gym and then you eventually get shaved out.

My pokemon that has been in a gym the longest is a Blissey that I stuck in either the top spot or 2nd to top. I made the gym 9 or 10 when I did that. Since then she has continued to fall and will be out of the gym soon. It will be nice to get her back tho...that was the first gym I ever put her in.

I've always been for the idea of 1st in last out regardless of CP, that way a shaver will always be on the bottom. Ya, it really sucks when you're taking the 10th slot in a gym.... This encourages complete gym turnover instead of shaving. It also encourages taking gyms instead of powering up.
This makes CP more important for attacking/defending instead of holding a position.

I suspect this concept will be quite unpopular with the current high level players.

Will be unpopular with anyone.

So your Level 1 Magickarp is on top of gym.

They can't stop shaving totally because it's impossible to tell family/friends from multiaccounts.

However, just because you can't stop shaving entirely. You could make it harder.

1 super easy way to do so: Stop allowing PTC accounts.

Make all PTC accounts transfer over to a Google Acct.

It's a lot harder to login and out of google accounts on a phone than PTC

That alone would cut down on a ton of issues.

I have a google account but I never log out. When I do since I've backed up the email on my phone itself it takes only a second. What makes PTC easier? Serious question.

That you can type in PTC "Account Name" and "Password" and log in.

Try loging out, then rehit "google" it doesn't prompt you or give you a choice of what Google Account to login into because your phone already has google logged in.

Ah ok. I probably haven't noticed it since I've memorized it and rarely get out anyway.

I disagree, or maybe it has to do with the phone. My daughter logs in by selecting Google, then the screen comes up with 'Choose an account', and hers is right on top, then it takes her straight to the game. 2 buttons is all it takes.
I use a PTC, and I am required to hit 'pokemon trainer club', then fully type in my account name and password. It's MUCH easier for her to log in than for me.
