I have a (HP/AT/DEF)
13/13/14 Steelix with IT/Crunch
10/15/12 Onix
57 candies and a spare metal coat. So, should I evlove my onix hoping for a better/second (for a potenial move rebalance) moveset, or keep the candies for now so that I have something to feed my current Steelix if he becomes a viable defender after a gym rework? I am not sure how do I feel about his moveset. It's not bad, but not optimal as well... On the other hand if I evolve the other one and Steelix becomes strong I will have much trouble powering one up since Onix is kinda rare here. What would you do?

I'm kind of tired...

What do you plan on doing with any moveset Steelix

Please don't take over the world with him while we sleep

In most gym scenes you can stare at him in your Dex.

Do that

Wait for a better Onix. If I were you I probably would not have evolved that first one, but I’m feeling super picky about steel coat, it’s the one item I haven’t even gotten one of yet.

I'd rather have a double-bug Scizor and failed twice getting Nightslash . Steelix pretty worthless in gyms AFAICS - lots of resistances but weak to both fire AND water! If you really are concerned about what the future gym rework may be then hold on to your candies and items, no one here knows.

Wait, see if you hatch a better one or just collect candy where you can. I evolved 2 of them first got DT/C second got IT/EQ which I powered up a bit for a general attacker or fun defender.

Gym rebalance could favour him but we aren't expecting to see that for a while. Steelix is a fun mon to use though so I powered mine (plenty of dust and defenders to spare) but I'm not going to rely on him for much besides attacking into certain mon. It's a niche mon currently due to CP
