Steel Machamp

Nope. Pretty much everything a steel Machamp does, a fighting Machamp does much better with additional scope.

The only benefit is effectiveness versus fairly types, but they have no presence in the current meta and it's a risky proposition due to Machamp's own weakness to it.

I'm holding onto a few raid caught Machamps with various combinations of steel moves in case the Gen3 move rebalancing makes them better on defense. With Gardevoir likely to become a good attacker, catching it off gaurd with steel moves could be nice.

At least with a steel CM, you are guaranteed a good fighting move if you use a TM. I have two lower IV lev 30 machamps that had steel CM that I TMed (both got CC). Add those to the two excellent IV machamps (both C/DP) I powered up and now I have a pretty solid Ttar lineup that I nearly always get the +3 damage bonus with.

I also use my low IV/high lev machamps to take the first pass at a hotly contested gym. It allows me to save my C/DP machamps for rounds 2/3 and I don't waste time healing so I can fast clear the gym and reduce chance of golden razz being used.

You can leave them in gyms where they will pester people trying to take them out with psychics or fliers. But they will still get taken out. YMMV.

I know how you feel. I've been soloing Machamps (no Lugia, no Zam, limited success) and for a while all I could get was steel, steel, and more steel. Still looking for one with Dynamic Punch and better than horrible stats for a raid mon.
