Starting new account.

I just started new accounts for my boys. In 2 days they are both around level 15. They will take turns using my old phone running off a hot spot from mine. Each has a level 25 Groudon and one had a level 25 machamp with counter/dynamic punch.

I plan on targeting Groudon, Tyranitar, and Machamp when the weather is right. Should I also consider Victorybel and Omnastar? Victorybel at level 25 may be their best option vs Kyogre. I am thinking about not worrying about golem right now as it is not effective for raiding at the moment.

They won't be using any dust or evolving for a while. Any other suggestion?

Victorybel won't be your best bet for grass types, probably exegutters! They're pretty common in sunny weather and are better than Victorybell. For Omastar he would be good for Groudon but not Kyrogue. I would recommend waiting on him. If eevees are common in your area maybe they should try electric counters such as jolteon, high level eevees are common in partly cloudy weather. The eevee evolutions are a good way to become good early on.

But if the pokemon are common then they can evolve them. They're going to be able to do at least a few evolutions and it would be impossible to do the lengendaries without evolving pokemon.

It depends where you are. I have not seen a single eggy of either type in over a month.

They have been going up multiple levels per day. For that reason in dont want to evolve anything or use dust since a few days later the pokemon will be outclassed. Maybe when they get around level 20 I might start evolving or using dust on a select few. I figured get level 25 from raids to give them pokemon at a much higher level than they can get normally at this point.

More so than the candy is that at only level 15 the highest they could currently catch Exeggcute and Exeggutor is at level 20 under favorable weather. If there is an Victreebell raid available under that same weather, it will be level 25 already.

In general though, sure don't worry about spending candy to evolve any high level catches, but save stardust for now unless they get anything really exceptional that they will be wanting to keep for a long time.

Without dust, but more so evolutions, you are pretty limited. So yeah, pretty much any tier three or four is pretty useful. Victreebel and omastar are fine grass&water types respectively. I wouldn’t dismiss golem out of hand, he’s still the best rock type Pokemon in the game. Gengar and Alakazam are very high DPS glass cannons. Scyther bug is good vs psychic and grass, flying vs fighting. Snorlax and lapras for gyms (but this is less important).

For tier 2: Boosted cloyster with double ice will be useful vs the Gen3 dragons when they come out (double rock golem could nicely round out the team here). Magneton is electric type, which is useful vs water and flying.

Really the exceptions from T3&T4 are: porygon, ninetails, the Nidos, and Absol.

Best chance is to do any raids that might get your noobs a charged TM or two. If you have DT/solar beam on Groudon and the Kyogre you battle has Thunder...you'll last 30+seconds in neutral conditions

Low level accounts can join raids, as essentially parasites, they don't need to contribute anything to the raid, just catch the boss. In the present environment, I think that is probably the quickest way to get a new account equipped with useful raid counters, and other goodies (rare candy, TMs). It is a bit depressing for those of us that painstakingly ground for decent pokemon. At present, Groudon is a decent counter for Groudon. So, after catching a half dozen, a new account can start to contribute. It won't be as good as a meticulously optimized account, but it can stop being a parasite.

Your targeted strategy for champ, ttar, and legendary is good.

At level 15, the two new accounts are undoubtedly doing next to nothing during the raids except dodging and/or fainting...a lot. By targeting Zam (weather boosted if you’re lucky enough to have windy conditions), then they can actually contribute to Machamp raids. Seeing the damage balls increase and/or (if they are on a different team from you, seeing the damage bar increase) is pretty rewarding.

Victreebel—can the contribute to omastar, ttar, and groudon...maybe.
Omastar - can contribute to ttar and groudon

Obviously, if you have enough raiders to do a boosted groudon, do that but if you’re short raiders, I wouldn’t shy away from any of the bosses mentioned.

Victre may be to glass. I suggest Eggy, Venus and Vile. They will do better.

I don't know how old they are, but maybe encourage them to read this thread (and the "If you were a Pokémon coach..." thread) so they can make their own decisions, based on a range of advice and an understanding that there are many ways to play the game. It won't matter if they make a few "mistakes" as long as they enjoy the journey.
