is the star piece worth getting?

I've 1260 coins and am thinking of getting:
a) 3x special box (in 4 more days), or
b) 1x special box and 1x great box.

but is the star piece worth it??

If I only get special boxes for 480 coins:
1260/480 = 2.625 boxes
2.625 boxes * 6 raid passes = 15.75 raid passes.

If I get 1 special and 1 great, I get 15 raid passes + 10 star piece.

So 10 star piece worth 0.75 raid pass.

Unless you are lack of stardust, star pieces are simply useless.

one cannot have too much stardust...

after the latest raikou power up, I've about 300k left. :(

the problem is, it's hard to optimise it.
1) get 9x 10k eggs;
2) get 8x incubators.

I've none of these.

Considering that I spend probably 80% of my PoGo playing time grinding for stardust, I think the star pieces are a pretty good deal, if you use them wisely.

Stardust is the most limited resource by far (numbers in the millions can be deceiving since it takes a minimum of 100k to do anything useful). Star pieces really should be 2x. Sure, 1.5x helps, but I figure a max value of about 10 coins per star piece.

I wouldn't go for the current Special Box, Incense is not particularly useful. If you end up getting star pieces I would hold on to them until you're in an area that has many lures fairly close together, at higher levels they are definitely a lot more useful than lucky eggs, but are much less simple to optimize.
