Squirtle day comments from Asia
Squirtle C Day over in Asia, here were the highlights:
1) Squirtle spawn rate seemed to be higher than other C days
2) Sunglass toting squirtles are easy to get. Every Poke stop offered a "catch 5 squirtle" research task which results in a 1900 dust squirtle with shades ... these can also be shinies: I got lucky!
3) if you evolve a sunglass squirt the glasses evolve with it, thus sunglass Blastoises are possible
4) "Catch 5" research events can be finished AFTER the event ends and you still get sunglass squirtle, so make sure you end the event with 3 "catch 5" research tasks. Best bet is to have all 3 task slots open when you start as you can "catch 5" simultaneously
5) Lots of shinies ... I got more than other C days. Lucky trainers can hatch sunglass shinies from research tasks
6) The 4x faster egg hatch only applies to eggs placed in incubators during C day.
7) Catch rates appeared boosted and flee rates reduced as has happened in other C days.

V cool!!! Did you Blastoise it? I think Niantic came up with a good idea to have these special Squirts as Research Tasks, as it is likely that we can get good IVs when we catch our specials / rewards. I am not so enamoured with shinies and one reason is that they generally (if not by design) usually have poor IVs. I did well with Shinies today but did not bother to evolve any as the IVs were far from stellar.
Can you imagine the Trainer buzz if they had special Larvitars last month and we all ended up with several 90%+ 1900 dust Larvitars (not sure what fashion accessory they would have had, maybe some sort of Viking, Roman or Mongol gear ... war helmets?) We would have seen them in every gym!!!
Good to know about the quest rewards being sunglasses squirtles. As opposed to prior community days where the "catch 3 event pokemon" lead to pinaps or candy rewards, here we get a special form of the event pokemon which has a higher chance for a good IV. Too bad two of my research slots are jammed up with dratini quests.
What I meant is that the "size" of Sunglass Squirtle caught is 1900 Stardust (same as all research rewards). I did not mean you get 1,900 stardust. Sorry if that was confusing. I probably should have said level 15 but in my area we use the stardust level as the measure of "size" as the translation between dust and level is never clear or obvious.
