So which pokemons in Gen 1 you think underpowered or basicly useless but can be tweaked into the metagame?

So here's my list
1) Gengar -> Even though he got a place at attacker tier 1,5. Still i hate the max CP for gengar is 2,6k. Not 3k or above. And so squishy even weaker than a glass cannon, more even useless against snorlax who have both lick and zenheadbutt for taking uselessness to another level. Honestly Gengar should be extremely buffed for the legendaries update or get f*ed in the a.

2)Jolteon and Flareon-> maybe at least buffed their CP or buffed the quick move and charge moves especially jolteon coz thundershock is bad and feels weak.

3)Rhydon and Golem-> at least have a 2 good rock type quick move for thwarting the legendaries and be the best attacker in the meta.

4)Gyarados -> please don't give this poor pokemon bite as the only quick move D:

or comment below for any missed underpowered pokemons that you think should be buffed :D

Gyarados is already really good as a generalist attacker, and Gengar is pretty solid if you can dodge effectively. Jolteon and Flareon already received a pretty significant buff in the CP update, as Flareon is one of the most effective Lapras counters and Jolteon is important because every baddie puts Gyarados in gyms now.

Rhydon got a huge buff, and Golem doesn't need a buff because he's basically Rhydon-lite.

I'm not sure we need to see more Gen1 pokemon getting a buff, but I could see Niantic making some changes to the CP formula to shake up the gym situation. I am sick of seeing mostly Gyarados and Rhydon in gyms, as these pokemon are terrible defenders.

Pg1-> Can't really deny that argument for the moment, but still 1) Gyarados with only bite as it arsenal is gonna get stale in the next update, or even crushed by tyranitar if your gyarados don't have dps or worse by not having a hydro pump as the charge move. 2) Even if Jolteon and Flareon don't have to buff their cp's, thunder moves still sucked and there's a better utility for flareon than other being a lapras counter. But still fainting gyarados'es with jolteon is pretty fun :D Edit 3) Gengar is crap, at least buffed him for godsake. Only the dodge gods is the only reason why this abomination still exists on 1,5 attacker tier D: buff his cp or buff him to be high risk high reward thingy playstyle so he can be the reliable ghost type that everyone deserve for the upcoming psychic gods ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Pg2-> they don't need a buff, they need rock type quick moves for the oncoming update

Pg 3-> I couldn't agree more, but they need to buff the thunder moves or give some pokemons better moves for advancing and tackling the new update rather than get kicked by gen 2.

They need to integrate speed stat into the game some way like say a high speed stat means you dodge a larger % of dmg. It could also affect how fast you can use quick move.

Making the speed stat a multiplier that increases or decreases the time to use both quick move and charge move is the obvious idea that I'm sure most people have had. Then two different pokemon with the same moves but different speed can function differently.

In the end tap and swipe is rudimentary. They need to add another layer of complexity to battling not just modify damage based on speed. Gengar just needs a good quick move like turning shadow claw into a move like pound, PC or bite and many would use him.

To REALLY shake up the game... I'd like to see it modified where candy/stardust boosts the base stats. Some critters would start with higher base stats but eventually, even the rat would be able to reach the same CP as a lapras. Then all critters would be useful instead of a group of ~10.

I'd rather would like to see Pokemons gaining CP by their Gym experience - each won fight adds a little CP to their base value up to a certain limit so that you can't produce unbeatable 'mons

Yes, i do agree, that to seriously change current Gym game EV should be implemented. With additional about 120 Stat-points to be distributed between base stats, it might be able to introduce much more pokemon to gym game. However, it's unclear in which way Niantic might implement gaining EV, through battling or walkin, or candy, or in any other way. But in ina case EV implementation will be game-changing addition. We might never get it, however :) Shouldn't ever put high expectations on Niantic, as all their game development history disproves that. Expect very little, and you might get fraction of it in upcoming monthes. :)

1) There isn't much that can be done for Gengar. And you shouldn't be using it against Snorlax anyway because Snorlax resists Shadow Claw and Gengar is weak to both Lick and Zenheadbutt.

2) If they adjusted Thundershock +1 damage, -0.1s, and -1 energy gain to match Water Gun/Bite/Dragon Breath/etc, that would probably have a bigger impact on Jolteon than changing any CP calculation.

A lot of curently unusable pokemon could be improved with some changes like this to moves. The biggest example that a lot of people complain about is Machamp - Bullet Punch should be faster and Karate Chop should deal more damage.

3) Smack Down (http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-sm/smackdown.shtml) is a TM in the main series, so a lot of pokemon can learn it. It would make a good quick move usable by most rock pokemon.

... In fact some TM moves in general would be better as quick moves than as charge moves. Dazzling Gleam (http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-sm/dazzlinggleam.shtml) is a TM, so I think it would have been better as a quick move so every fairy pokemon would have access to a fairy type quick move.

4) Dragon Tail (http://www.serebii.net/attackdex-sm/dragontail.shtml) is in the list of new quick moves and Gyarados can learn it.

1) I'm implying that gengar shouldn't have fought snorlax that's just adding salt to injury, but gengar playstyle should be a wall breaker not some glass cannon who broke after battling 1 pokemon even with dodging.

2) Yep that's one buff that should be added to the thunder type moves

3)Yep, no point in arguing there.

4) Let's just hope so, and add some stab moves while at it for better wallbreaker gyarados mah best attack fish.

The only ones who really need a buff are
1 Tortank
2 Machamp
3 Gengar (because despite higher stats he is still quite useless as you said)
4 Venusaur : to balance the water-meta and to make him usable on defense

Jolteon and Flareon are good enough now. They have never been very strong mons. Usefull one like they are now until you find better.

It's true at least one of the two Ground/rock shoud have mud shot. IDK why they removed it from golem.

Some pokemon that wasn't very strong but solid in the old CP calculation became a lot weaker. You could think "well the calculation changed so it's fair" but Lapras kept the old calculation. Pokemon like Golduck, Victreebell, Slowbro and Wiglytuff that wasn't broken but pretty good could go back to the old CP calculation, to make the meta more interesting and richier.

I don't really need a CP's buffs unless only on gengar ofc, but to make the meta more interesting than other pokemons to the transfer bin aka trash. They need to think how the pokemon's should be played and there should be some enchantment to make the meta abstract and fun + playable rather than that one pokemon that sitting nicely on your pokebag
