Well, at the very least good to know not to be in a rush to evolve and such. And avalanche wont be legacy too.

Haha, im suprised someone remembered that.
It didnt shock me they did this, mamoswine's already godtier ice type wise, so another even better ice move wouldn't really make sense.
Earthpower as a ground move would have been great, but it probably never would have been the go to ground attacker
Ancient power, while It will be a novelty, I at least like it, it connects to its main series evolution and having a mamoswine on my main series team in a playthrough at the same time mamoswine's coming was near perfect coincidence. Might be fun for PvP against fire or even other ice types.
Not sure; I don't do a lot of PvP right now (probably more in the spring/summer), so I'm thinking more of Raids. And Dig would be an upgrade to Bulldoze (though maybe not by much).
I'm suddenly uncertain if I want to have any Mammoswine's with Ancient Power, because it's going to cost me 50,000 stardust to get Avalanche - and I'm not really sure I want to spend that much on getting the only Charge Move that I really want on Mammoswine.
Meh.

The authenticity of the email has not been fully verified. I can vouch for the Chinese writing and translation though.
If the move is indeed Ancient Power, I can go ahead and spend a Sinnoh Stone on my perfect Magmar.
People on Silph have also suggested turning off your GPS when evolving during the 3 hour CD window to avoid getting the exclusive move. Apparently, this is a thing because if they can't be sure you are in the correct time zone to get the move, you won't get it. I personally want all my Mamoswines to have Avalanche.
Can vouch for this. My fiancee lost GPS during Beldum day and ended up with a 96-98% EQ Metagross...
At least one of her shinies was a 96% and she got 4 luckies from me that were 93% or higher, so at the end of the day it wasn't the biggest loss in the world. Which is weird to say about losing out on a near-perfect MM Metagross, but it's whatever when you have 6 more lying in wait. Everything's relative.
As fun as it was to theory craft about how broken of an ice-type move or ground type move they could give it, it's extremely nice to know I don't have to rush to evolve any during the CD window, maybe 2 or 3 for collection purposes. I like the broken stuff but also wish the moves always remained novelty and didn't become meta-defining.
