So how does Castform work?

So far I have a Sunny Weather one that has Ember/Solar Beam. Does it change while in the box? Does it gain new moves? Or do they stay in the form you've caught them during whatever weather? Does normal Castform appear under cloudy, foggy, windy weather?

I know nothing about past Pokémon games and what Castform may be useful for, but I caught several ones in Partly Cloudy, with Tackle/Hurricane. It does not have any unusual indications to make it different from other Pokémon.

In the originals he'd change form while being out in battle during sunny, rainy, or snowy weather. But it seems, at least according to this website: https://pokemongohub.net/post/news/deoxys-castform-moves-forms-added-game-master/ that Castform's forms will be treated as different pokemon, same with Deoxys. That's kind of sad though, would have been cooler to keep them like in the original games.
