Snorlax Question

Is hyper beam really a better defensive move then heavy slam?

Heavy slam gives me more problems. It's harder to dodge and does enough damage to matter. Usually if I can dodge one Snorlax HB, it's enough to beat him before he casts another HB. Heavy slam just keeps coming...

in practice yes, it's a complete nightmare to fight against as if you don't dodge you are dead but more importantly if you do dodge but it could have killed you your current 'mon often KO bugs out wasting time and HP. heavy slam is a poor mans bodyslam, not as spammy and easier to avoid.

yes if it hits the attacker. But hyper beam is easily to dodge than heavy/body slam. Personally i prefer against Snorlax with HB than HS/BS.

Depends on how good the cell reception is (how likely the attacker will get hit with the dodge bug). The bug causes 2 Mon to take simultaneous damage. One gets their hp back after battle; but this hardly matters. Anything that triggers the dodge bug is formidable until the bug is fixed.

Pound for pound, yes. If you dodge it, it still stings. If you don't, then just walk it off if you still can. Yes, it's easy to dodge but it still hurts.

I think HeavySlam is introduced for Tyranitar since it resists both psychic and normal moves

Whenever I fight enemy gyms I hope that all Snorlaxes have hyperbeam. It may deal more damage, but the thing here is you are basicly guaranteed to dodge it, while with HS/BS there's a good likelyhood of missing at least one dodge. If that happens, HB loses. And even if it doesn't, you need to be very carefull, waste more time and potentially energy (probably quite a lot if you have a one-bar move).
