Snorlax to Power Up

I am Level 30, about 500K dust and with 112 Snorlax Candies.

I have 2 Snorlax that I believe should be considered for powering up.

Snorlax 1:

CP: 1748
IV: 87
Moves: Zen Headbutt / Body Slam

Snorlax 2

CP:2200
IV: 98
Moves: Lick / Earthquake

I am leaning towards powering up snorlax 1 because the IVs are good, the move is great for defending and snorlax is more of a defensive pokemon.

Snorlax 2 has nearly perfect IVs but the moves suck. I don't really like Snorlax for offense as it uses way too many potions. On top of this, earthquake is probably the worst charge move on a snorlax because it doesn't benefit from STAB.

I have more high end defensive pokemon than offensive ones. Therefore I kind of need an offensive Snorlax but at the same time Snorlax is far better suited for defense than offense.

Which of the two should I power up? and what would you do if you were in my situation.

112 candies - why not both?

The 98 IV one will be good for slotting high up in a gym, and no Snorlax is a bad defensive Snorlax. His worst moveset is still a better defender than any other pokemon not named Lapras.

The first one is definitely worth powering though. You have more high end defensive pokemon and need an attacker though? Which pokemon can defend but can't attack? I understand the opposite but not this order - outside of Snorlax I don't find any good defender to be a weak attacker. Slowbro, Wigglytuff, Clefable, and Poliwrath are clearly better suited for defense but still do okay, and Vapo/Dragonite/Exeggutor/Arcanine/&company are all better at attack.

See my problem is that I have too many high cp/defensive moved pokemon.

For example, I got two dragonites both over 3k cp both 100IV or close to it but they both have steel wing as first attack.

I have a 2560 arcanine but with Bite/Flamethrow. I have evolved several high IV growlithes but they have all turned into arcanines with Bite/flamethrower or bulldoze. I have never got a fire blast or fire fang on either of them.

I have a few decent Lapras' over 2k CP but none have Blizz/Frost breath combo.

So basically all the main beat pokemon such as Drag/Snorlax/Lapras/Arcanine I have are with more defensive minded moves.

I cracked two 10km eggs since the Halloween event started. Both Snorlax, first had 46 candies, second had 53. I got 2600+ with ZH/HP, Lick/BS, and ZH/BS. Plus a 2300 Lick/EQ to boot.

In your face! xD

Bite\Flamethrower is not a good defensive moveset for Arcanine (Flamethrower is great for defense, but don't compensates Bite) but is an OK offensive moveset.

Earthquake still does quite a bit of damage and lick generates the charge very fast. It's already a higher level and you mentioned needing an offensive Pokemon.

Snorlax may be "better"suited for defense but it's versatility and excellent stats make it a great attacker. Although you may want to leave it a lower cp for attacking.

You have so much candy you could invest some in both. No matter what choice you make it is the right one.

I have tried using earthquake but it seems to do so little damage. It really seems to suffer for not having STAB bonus. It only works well against pokemons weak to stone or ground or whatever type of attack it is.

Definitely the 1st one. It's a very good one.
Dont waste candies on the 2nd one. Its the worst moveset possible. Use it as it is now as an attacker or put in a gym where pokemon are below 2200CP

That's exactly what I think of the 2200 CP snorlax. If that snorlax had lick + beam or body slam I would have max powered him by now but earthquake is just so underwhelming.

Go for the first one. In the future, when you have a lot of good offensive pokemon, you will regret of investing on a attacking Snorlax.
