Snorlax with earthquake

I just hatched a snorlax with zh/e
The Ivs are about 87-91%. Because of earthquake I'm not sure if I should power up him...

most players now are using rhydons against snorlax.
ZH is super effective against him and EQ too.
I think it can be powered up, but the decision is yours.
If you have a low CP rhydon, maybe you can try to train a gym where you put your snorlax?
And then try with other pokemons, just to try how well it can deal with all the attackers ;)

Zen headbutt super effective against rhydon?
Rhydon isn't weak against psychic moves...

my bad!
this is still good as a defensive move

Best defensive quick move and 2nd best defensive charge move after BS. Good ivs as well so I would say yeah he is worth investing dust/candy in, he'll be a great defender.

HB is superior to Earthquake as an offensive and defensive charge move, except against Rhydon. So in basically every scenario, HB is superior -- as EQ lacks STAB and is weak against Dragonites (the best attacker into Snorlax). Plus, both moves are easy to dodge so that's not as much of a factor.

Earthquake is not the 2nd best D charge move.

That being said, basically any good IV Zen Headbutt Snorlax is good for defense, and it's probably worth leveling up -- EQ isn't a bad move, just not as good as the other STAB normal type moves.

Hyper beam has a 99% dodge rate and throughout a battle will be at most used twice. EQ will be used more often and more likely for a dodge to be missed.

any decent player will dodge both, so that's irrelevant. Lack of STAB, and lower DPS overall makes EQ far inferior.

Depends on whether you have a better Snorlax. While EQ is the worst charge move on Snorlax, Snorlaxes with EQ are still better defenders than most other Pokemon.

Having BS or HB is only one factor in what makes Snorlax the best defender in the game, so not having it doesn't make your Snorlax terrible, just not as good.

EQ on Snorlax is comparable to HB on Dragonite or DP on Lapras.

These moves are not so bad when you look some of the absolutely garbage moves that other Pokemon can get, for example Brick Break Raichu, Twister Gyarados, Bulldoze Arcanine, Icy Wind Cloyster et cetera.

It's just that the other 2 charge moves that those 3 Pokemon have are really good mainly due to having STAB, and these are just 'good'.

thats a great snorlax and as someone who has 2 rhydons he uses to counter snorlax eq is the move i fear the most.

I gotta say though, im having some serious snorlax envy reading this site. All these questions popping up about whether their zen headbutt snorlaxes are good enough. My only snorlax has lick/eq and ive never managed to hatch one. Woe is me =/.

A lot of it is area dependent. I'm sure your local players are lacking snorlax as well, so don't be too discouraged.

Congrats, this pokemon is very serviceable. Earthquake is still a good charge move, despite being the worst option of the 3 available. Nice Rhydon counter, even if Rhydon sucks.

Just watch out for Dragonites, as they will roast this Snorlax.

My only Snorlax has similar IVs and has L/EQ and I've powered him up and is a good attacker and defender. I figured EQ would become much more desired once the next gen pokes are released as it is SE against Ttar.

Imo ZH is a unbearable attack move and Lick+ any of the 3 charge moves is amazing. Lol Lax is an amazing attacker due to his high hp imo one missed dodge won't end your match. Eq is decent I wish I had a BS or HB one but my same Snorlax tears down Dragonites just fine.

ugh another absurd question. snorlax you want to worry bout IV...period. moveset is pretty much not important. yes bodyslam is of course better to put on defense but take a moment to take a step back and realize things from a fuller perspective. your overall goal is to throw a snorlax in a gym i imagine. higher iv means higher cp potential...you want your snorlax to shoot up in cp and eventually be able to break the 3k mark. if you are choosing between several laxes and arnt sure which one i understand that moveset is now somewhat important. but back to my point: when somebody attacks into a gym that they notice has a snorlax...i promise you that the moveset on your snorlax wont be the reason they suddenly stop attacking. nobody has ever stopped to take time to rip down a level10 gym and said "oo man...snorlax has bodyslam i thought it was gonna be earthquake..im out"- if the gym is going down ..its going down. period. focus on IV with the big5 (the 5 that can break 3k) as every adv in cp makes the difference. im in many gyms where the most of the slots are between 2800-2900...an extra 30 cp makes all the diff in placement. once you have a snorlax army and are wondering which to improve then fine go back to moveset...but use snorlax as a gym deterrent as people will just notice the snorlax and either avoid it (as they dont know the moveset) or decide to attack in which case your moveset wont b the reason they succeed or dont...they either are good enough to beat it or arnt. not to mention the overlooked element of prestiging...makes it eaiser on ur teammates to prestige into a worse moveset not that that should ever b the reason but its a bonus- plus rhydon is weak to earthquake the most likely attacker ;) - dont over think moveset so much be grateful you have a snorlax. to put in perseptive i had 4 gyarados with twister...all very high cp...they have been in gyms for weeks...the main idea was just getting a defender high enough in cp to make a top spot in the gym. hope that helps...snorlax is a beast - of any pokemon moveset doesnt really matter as its "worst" is better than almost most other pokemons best
