Snorlax as attacker?

I'm level 27, and I have two Snorlax:

One LV20 CP1899 89%IV Lick/HyperBeam 15ATK
One LV27 CP2506 83%IV Lick/BodySlam 15STA
And 18 candies. I won't get more candy unless I get lucky and hatching an egg (walking with Chansey)

I was thinking of using the first as-is, as an attacker/prestiger without powering it up.

Then, I can spend the candies I got hatching the first one on the defender, so it isn't churned out of gyms so easily.

Is that the best move, or would it be better to spend the 18 candies on the first and bring it's CP up to where it would be a decent defender?

L/BS is a great attacker and a great defender too. With the mechanics changes, BS are the key to a badass defender Snorlax.
I have a 2810CP 82.2%IVs L/BS who i usually use as a attacker and a 3075CP 93.3%IVs ZH/BS as my main defender while i walk to reach 2700CP with my ZH/P Blissey.
So, L/BS is great for both while L/HB is "useless" as a defender (i would rank L/BS A for both and L/HB D for defense and A for ofense).

L/HB is awesome on offense. It's my go-to attacker unless I'm facing a Rhydon or the same type. Can take down 2 Dragonites plus some minor defenders e.g. Gyarados. While it's true that it's a mediocre defender, with such a high CP, you'll be placed at least in the middle of a gym, depending on the average CP of defenders in your place. Nevertheless, there's really no such thing as a defender here IMO. A dedicated trainer with sufficient resources will take down a gym no matter what.

Of course any dedicated player can take down a gym but if attacking a gym I know I'd rather face a gym with Rhydon, gyarados and Dragonite over a gym with Snorlax, Lapras and blisseys. There definitely is such thing as a good defender.

imo any snorlax with bodyslam is the best defending pokemon atm. even upon blisseys with dazzling gleam, or im just better in dodging it.
ive a high cp snorlax with lick/hb and i think hes better for attacking than defending, especially if there are like 3 vaporeons next to each other, or some psycho pokemon.
but i dont really need him for attacking, so i mostly put him in gyms where he fits well.

but for prestiging your snorlax has kinda high cp?
for now id prob save the candy for the 83% bodyslam one.
