I caught a Snorlax with the best defensive moveset (IMO) ZH & BS. He is only 43.3%, I have already invested dust/candy into him, but he is not maxed out yet. Should I continue to max him out at that IV? I am level 28, and he is almost maxed, roughly 18 candies more.

43% is too low. If you have a lot of candies, you can consider power him up to lvl 30 since he is almost there already.

Go for it. Unless you are regularly catching Snorlax, keep going for it, and you won't regret it.

why are people saying no? He is still a top tier defender with the best moveset and hes already nearly 30. Unless you already have an amazing team of defenders you should push him to 30.

Maybe they are players who have found "ways" to catch plenty of snorlaxes.
And thats why they can choose the best ones and ignore "shitty" 40% IV snorlaxes.

At level 28 trainer be cautious in spending dust if I were you. The snorlax is already near its max for his trainer level. Is it going to be that much of a difference in CP? I would bet he will come across another snorlax or hatch one before level 33. And going from 28 to level 33+ is a looooong way to go. Save your snorlax candie. You hatch one you may get 30 candies and if it's a better IV with same moveset you're going to wish you didn't spend those precious snorlax candies and dust. Or you can ignore my advice but don't bitch your low on dust or candies later.

If I were you and had the full amount of candy on hand I would take him to 30. After that the diminished returns and high rare candy cost can really hurt.

I don't mind low IVs at all:)

Stats
720 / 745 (your snorlax)
vs
745 / 745 (perfect snorlax)
Difference is 3,5%

Ask yourself:
What is your chance to catch perfect snorlax?
What is the chances that perfect one has desired move set?

If you're comfortable using the candies you have left, I would say why not? Moveset is far more important than IV spread, even with Snorlax having such high CP-scaling.

If you hatch / catch something better, then save your candy for that. But you're probably safe going to level 30.

You should focus on attackers. Defense is overrated. In active areas no defending pokemon lasts more than 15 minutes, no matter how powerful it is nor how good is its moveset. Focus on powering up your best attackers so you can take down gyms more efficiently.

That's highly area dependent. Where I live and the gym scene here, some gyms are like that, but others can stay up for weeks, so defender CP is way more important.

Yes if you can easily get snorlax candies, otherwise no.
