Slowbro as a defender?

Should I power this Slowbro up for defense? My best IV and moveset Slowbro yet, but I got water pulse instead of ice beam, which I believe to be superior.. is it still worth powering up despite this?

If you need and want go for it and have fun, but IMO nope since you have only 100k stardust and he will take almost all. Try better defenders like Blissey, Snorlax, Vaporeon etc and keep him in your bag.

Not need, just wanted a good slowbro because they are tanky. If it had ice beam I'd have done it right away, but water pulse seems less adequate..

Well, you need ask urself if worth use almost all your dust on it or keep farming and looking for better Pokémon.
I never powered a Slowbro cuz of his very low CP.

Is this your go-to defender in the long term? WP Slowbro is better against tyranitar/scizor/rhydon in this generation, equal to ice beam against snorlax/blissey. In gen3, WP will be better vs upcoming powerhouse metagross (steel/psy + elite stats!) And gen4 rhyperior. Additonally, I believe WP pretty OK since attackers dont expect it too.

Definitely not "go-to" long term, but would be used for certain gyms where his typing and tankiness would be useful.. This is my top page (mainly defenders w good defense movesets) at the moment.

Lol its so sick that you have Omarstar in a gym. It's tough to say go for it because Ice Beam is so much more ideal than Water Pulse. I'd say go for it only if Slowbros are hard to find in your area.

Haha thanks, he has legacy move rock slide (2 bars of 80 now) it's beast. They are not uncommon, I do have 330 candy after all.. just not many w such high IV, will be a while before I can try again.. but I shall persist.

I would suggest getting one with C/IB or C/P if your going to invest stardust into one to max it out. You could also just get a Slowking with a ideal moveset.

Wanted slowbro for the 2 bar charge moves, but still have tons of slowpoke candy obviously.. will keep trying!

It depends really on your area. If you have people that put multiple dragonites in gyms I would try and go for one with Ice beam but if not C/WP could be a ideal defender after all Confusion got buffed and with wp being a 2 bar move you could realistically get more dps off compared to psychic maybe even ice beam since it has stab. Game press has me rethinking my original answer..
