slakoth/slaking any good?

I have a 560 lucky slakoth with 96% ivs but i realize its evolution is good for nothing...? Is it worth evolving it only for the dex entry or is it actually useful in gyms? I'm asking because slakings are so easy to knock out of a gym especially if there are already 3 or so normal pokemon like blissey, snorlax, chancey.

They are useful to keep the gym tall.

High CP scares off newbies and casuals but players worth their salt can dismantle them without taking any charge damage. Evolve your highest CP Slakoth and move on.

Use play rough and put it in gyms. It can one hit KO most glass cannons and deals massive damage (although yawn isn't).
