I didn’t get enough for my first Piloswine until fire and ice event, now I have 5 Piloswine 1850 to 2000, maybe 130 candy left. Big saving point is we can catch a boosted one with ground being amped in clear weather. Those in hot places that played since start could have collected 400 to 500 total candy, but you should realize it is rare and evolve as if it were larvitar candy***pokedex says I’ve caught 100 Swinub
Skewed spawns for Gen 4 evolutions
The thread below asking about legendaries had me thinking about how skewed spawns for certain regions/biomes affect how 'immediately' people can be running with good Gen 4 mons with candy saved up from their evolutions from previous generations.
The comment 'articuno will be replaced by non-legendary mamoswine' got me thinking about this, and while part of me is unhappy about it, I am also not convinced it will definitely be true.
While part of this salt is due to myself being mystic and having already maxed out an Arti, I have some honest reservations if Mamoswine is going to outdo Arti and Niantic will just give it toxic moves like PS/Icy Wind to 'balance it out'
I play in 2 cities, Hong Kong and London. Hong Kong never sees a swinub spawn that often (only 'just' got better with clear weather), while the entire London, pre-Gen 3, was a swinub nest. I am sitting on a stack of 1759 Swinub candy and that's after evolving some of them for EXP (caught 875 total). If Mamoswine does become the strongest Ice Type, the hardcore london players (who btw, would be sitting on 5k+ candy) or other swinub spawn cities will be rocking armies of Mamoswine from the get go. I don't think this is balanced, hence I do hope Niantic does suppress it somewhat.
A similar case could be made for cities with tons of magnemite spawns (for Magnezone), or even things like although they don't replace the legendary counterparts just yet.
If they somehow make Mamoswine a 400 candy cost, I guess this can be balanced somewhat, but if I can already rock an army of Mamoswines with 100 candy final evolutions and still have lots of leftovers for maxing out then I think it's pretty broken IMO.

Hong Kong never sees swinub? I've already gave up catching them in nests and they infest in sunny/clear weather.
Also Mamoswine is one of them but Rhyperior is the worst because rhyhorns are everywhere and anyone who got the item can get them, and his stats are the most ridiculous in the entire game, and i think it's the highest of ANY non-legendary, to the point that if it gets smack down as a rock fast move and has a very powerful rock charged move, it becomes ridiculous.
My city has its own beauty then, I have 6 Mewtwo and raiding for my 7th on Saturday. This thread opens my awareness to solo a Piloswine on a clear day, especially at a frequent Mewtwo spawning park. Current meta has Mewtwo playing a so-so role, maybe in another time it’ll be an advantage to have several of those at level 30 to 35
I always thought a part of the beauty of gen4 and the fun of knowing it's coming was how much it upgraded some old evolution lines. There's tons of strong cross gen evolutions, with Mamoswine and Rhyperior being the best in terms of pure stats, but also Togekiss, Tangrowth, Electiwire, Magmortar, Magnezone, Roserade, Weavile, Honchkrow, Yanmega either outright outclassing older nonlegendaries or having a lot of potential to be strong.
I do expect Niantic to try to slow down players evolving them though, at least some have evo items that can be made extremely rare if they so choose.
