As someone mentioned earlier today, there might be more hackers than legit players playing PG. Some even state figures like 90+% hackers. Thus they argue the game will be dead if Niantic bans the hackers.
Sad but true I guess. Nearly all players I met on the street are like "wtf you know there is xyRadar and xymap!? Why do you hunt oldschool?".
I am a completely "old school" player, I only have what I caught surreptitiously while walking around, or hatched. I walk to the gyms that I prestige or attack, have nearly gotten frostbite a few times, tap, tap, tapping my phone, been mugged and had my phone stolen, but I did evolve four blisseys, because of the valentines event. I powered up two of them to put in gyms, and have contributed to some blissey stacks this way.
On the attack side, I find blissey has forced me to hone a high damage output attack team. It is expensive in resources(revives, potions) to take a tall blissey stack, but if I really want to, I can, and have.
I can understand if your level is below 30, the current gym scene would be pretty tough I've been playing a few hours a day since July, and I can compete, and have done absolutely nothing the would violate Niantec's TOS.
The spoofers frustrate me to no end. Here I am standing outside in -30C weather battling a gym while spoofers sit inside their house on their fat asses doing nothing.
I played hard this winter but I know there were spoofers out there taking our gyms. One day it was -35C with the windchill and I powered a gym up to level 10 that you had to walk to. Cannot drive a car there. The next morning it was knocked down.
I powered it up from 9 to 10 and no way someone stood outside in -35C weather for nearly an hour to knock the gym down. I could barely stand there for 7-8 minutes before I froze. I honestly thought that gym would last weeks in that weather. Nope, not even one night.
Though I play completely legit now, I freely admit to having used trackers in the past. While I was doing it though, I did feel some sense of shame and is part the reason why I stopped doing it. I now take a great amount of satisfaction from tracking down pokemon the "hard" way. That said, I'm not completely opposed to the practice, it's just not for me anymore.
Spoofers though, I outright dislike. Trainer Tips Nick did fairly controversial rant on the matter recently and one of his points was that taking away the Go aspect leaves you with a weak game. Not sure why people want to play that when there are much better alternatives, namely the main series games.
