Should I evolve or keep my Machoke?

I don't see machops in my area so I have been walking machop for more than 70 candies now. Today I caught a 1380 CP Machoke out of no where. Its a 40% IV with Karate Chop and Submission. Is there any use for it or should I evolve to Machamp for pokedex entry? I still need 25 candies to start the evolution from Machop if I don't evolve this Machoke.

At the moment, Machamp is not a good Snorlax counter even though his typing is perfect.

In the next generation, Tyranitar will be double weak to fighting, however Tyranitar is also single weak to water and bug.
Heracross (bug/fighting) will more likely be the perfect Tyranitar counter, and because Machamp is so weak, any solid water mon (most notably the ever present Vaporeon) will likely do the job better.

I also evolved a low IV mon to get the Machamp Pokedex entry and would do so again.

Thanks for your reply. Any use of Machoke as a prestiger? Is Karate Chop and Submission any good?

Karate Chop is the lowest DPS quick move together with Fury Cutter according to https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/quick-moves

It charges Submission decently, but then again that's no high DPS charge move either. You will struggle to do a lot of damage in a short amount of time, and by the time you've managed to do enough damage to take down say a low CP Snorlax, you're probably out of time, unless you are already dead.

I have a KC/Submission Machamp that I powered up to level 30. He does ok against lick/XX snorlaxes, with some dodging. ZH snorlaxes whittle him down before he can finish one off, but he usually gets their hp low enough that the next mon in my roster has an easy time defeating it. ... You can use MaChamp KC/S, but you have to play it well.

Too lazy to check, but doesn't rock resist bug? So neutral damage from bug.

Machoke would need Low Kick/Cross Chop or Low Kick/Brick Break to be a barely viable trainer. So don't save this one for its moveset.

On the other hand, generally if candies are harder to get, then people are pickier about IVs. What are the IVs and level or CP of your best Machops for a better comparison?

Machamp has really good stats, but is crippled by bad moves. I am still holding out a small bit of hope that Niantic might adjust moves again to improve some underutilized pokemon like Machamp. They could shake up the entire stagnant metagame with a move update.
