I caught 3, but it was during the Water Event when they were much more common. None since with many more Magikarp caught.

I mean, at least you've seen it. I have not even spotted one yet after the gazillions of Magikarp I've came across XD

Never seen one either, in fact I don't really care any more

i have catched like 1300 karps after the waterfest and still nothing

I got one in a raid and know at least one other player that has too. Try doing magikarp raids and see if you can get one there. It's just anecdotal but seems like odds are higher to get a shiny in a raid

Where does it tell you that you've seen one?

900 caught, 3 shiny during the safari zone event.
