Shinies (sorry)

Ok so my phone doesn’t have the update available yet, should I be saving every magikarp until it updates in case they happen to turn into shiny after I DL the update? Or, will I still get the “Are you sure you want to transfer a shiny pokemon?” message even without the update?

I believe its server side, I do not have the update and some icons for the pokemons have changed.

I don't believe I updated my app and I found a shiny. Not 100% sure

What is your game version? If it's the previous, we will know for sure ?

I'm on Android, I do not have the update yet, and I was able to see and catch a shiny Magikarp.
You only see it is shiny after you tap it. The Magikarp is orange when it's flopping on the map, but if it's shiny, it becomes yellow on the pokeball-throwing screen (trying to be as clear as possible).
