Sharing my blastoise

I got a blastoise who is a 91%iv pokemon with the worst skill set it can have.. bite/ice beam.. but I powered it up none the less.. why?? Because in a gym full of dragonite's it is the best attacker for me.. It can kill 2 and half the life of the third dragonite.. cp of my blastoise is 2112 and he can kill 2.4k cp up dragonites.. He is one of my dragonite killing team of six including 2 lapras, a dewgong, a wigglytuff pound/hyperbeam, and a snorlax.. what you guys think?? He can also kill all the top plant types.. Ideal skill set for him is water gun / hydro pump but I got vaporeons for that..

I wouldnt spend dust in. In my opinion is better to wait a better pokemon ( try to test vaporeon, even it is not superefecttive). I face dragonite with my perfect cleafairy, but i wouldnt spend my stardust on some pokemons with ice attacks that I have.

Ps: sorry for my bad english.

No prob with the english dude!! I understand you perfectly.. :-) :-) I have got other ice pokemons and I tried them like cloister with a 95.5% iv frost breath / blizzard and a tentacruel with poison jab and blizzard.. but steel wing and or dragons breath <-- is it right?? Eats away the hp of those pokemons.. and with bite, nothing hits my blastoise.

I like the idea of specialized teams, but attackers don't need to be ALL the way up. Maybe stop before the dust hits 3000 or 4500 . Powering up one hatched Pokemon from an egg that's in the 4500 range costs like 40,000. Might regret that later.

You have two Laprases and you're also putting dust into an ice Blastoise? How many Dragonites are there around you anyway???

That said, I agree with you that "sub-optimal" skill sets for certain pokemon can still be very useful. Case in point: I have a Confusion/Ice Beam Slowbro I use for taking out Dragonites. Of course, I don't have any other pokemon with ice attacks at all; if I ever find a Lapras, I might retire the Slowbro.

If you live at my place you can encounter alot of dragonites in gyms.. just for example I just took out a level 10gym with a snorlax at the beginning and dragonites till the top 2.4k cp to 3.2k with my team I killed em all in one go.. it depends really on the area you are battling on..

I have a Blastoise with Bite and Ice Beam too. I thought about powering it up cause candys and dust are no matter for me and it's probably the third one I have now without WG & HP.

So here's my question: Considering Blastoise as a defender, why is it C-ranked? I thought about moves and Bite is quite the same as WaterGun but gives me power against psycho and IceBeam is great against Dragon and Grass. No one will attack a water pkm with a water pkm and other moves bring type advantage so why is wg&hp recommended as defender moveset?? i don't get that? i may misunderstand how movesets here are chosen. Can anyone help me out with this?

(may open a new post for this question)

It is calculated on the highest dps and stab of the skill per pokemon.. my blastoise is just a specialist that kills all dragonites and I will not put it as a defender coz I got vaporeons for that.. compared to vaporeon with wp/hb to a blastoise with the same skill set I would always go with a vaporeon because of its stamina and it is easy to power up because it is easy to find candies..
