Im totally disappointed with Niantic for not trying to make PoGo into a fair game. The most basic item in the game (standard poke balls) are the most expensive. That is fraud against rural players while people like me in the city throw them away because of full items list. Then people always refer to RNG for if they are lucky or not. You dont know that! You dont know if some Poke stops drops better items and eggs than others. That could be Niantics decision.

I personally feel that pay-to-win is pretty fair.

I don't think different pokestops have different drop rates, but I definitely agree that the game overall is really badly balanced for rural players, simply based on the law of large numbers. This is just one of many flaws that Niantic has failed to address.

To play devils advocate for a second, they use maps like OSM to spread pokestops. They don't really have control over the fact no one has marked anything worth pokestoping on that map. And for them to try to find places worldwide to fill in the gaps wouldn't just be a huge task, it would be a near impossible one.

It is their fault that they use limited methods to distribute pokestops, and not a more robust and complete method that takes into account a series of factors - instead of limiting the criteria.

They set the criteria that decides it...that part is their doing.

It's a free to play game. Poke balls are the easiest item to get a huge number of quickly. I do wish they could come up with an easier way for rural players to get pokestops though.

On the other hand, rural players have gyms that can be topped by CP 2200 mons, and they are more likely to be able to collect coins from a single mon in a gym for weeks straight. Players in big cities are often lucky if they can hold three gyms simultaneously long enough to collect, and they are constantly victimized by spoofers and gym shavers.

Rural gyms are easy but it costs more than a week's worth of coins for a pack of balls.

That same amount of coins could buy 5 incubators or 4 upgrades when urban players never even consider paying for balls or not catching mons to conserve balls.

I would love to play in a place full of sidewalks, spawns, contested gyms, pokestops clustered together. Would be like a whole new game. Easy gyms don't necessarily make the game good, sometimes it's quite the opposite, hoping it will be attacked so I use a gym every now and then.

As every player will have mon of a similar range it doesn't make it any easier.

It is like saying, people in the city have higher level mons so it will be easier for them to collect on gyms.

Ddi you miss the part about spoofers and gym shaving and mons sitting in rural gyms for weeks at a time?

And I never said ruralplayers have it easier; I just said that they have some advantages that partially mitigate their disadvantages.

You wrote it kinda for me:-) No pokeballs again. Lvl 32 trainer and sometimes I struggle to catch a mon I caught a ton before, not because I can't throw a ball, but RNG. If I live in a water biom and have problems w/ cp~100 Poliwag throwing a great loosing 4 balls at it sth goes wrong. Just 2 pokestops here!
So Niantic if you read this do the math. I'm not going to buy pokeballs even for my gym-coins, I'd rather quit playing if it goes further this way.

People is cites is talking about how easy gyms is in rural areas ( or cites outside the usa ) , you don't know the struggle of walking two or three kilometers just to find a pokestop and on top of that no spawning in all the distance
