Ripple in Time 3/8: Hatch 9 eggs

Simple question. Similar to most of us, I am currently on 2/8 of the Celebi quest. Looking forward, I saw that 3/8 will require hatching 9 eggs. My question is simply:

If I start incubating eggs before I have completed 2/8, will those 9 eggs count tomorrow when they hatch?

I assume it counts when they hatch, not when they were incubated.

I have an egg that was at 6.7/7.0 km when I got to stage 3, so after I walk the dog, I can answer whether it gives me that one or not. I suspect it will, since the key is to 'hatch' the egg, not to 'walk' it. Probably different with the "walk an Eevee" quest. Will update shortly.

Yep, egg hatched and my quest display shows 1/9 hatched. So start them cooking now, as long as you won't hatch them before you get to part 3.

Normally it depends on when they were Hatched, not when they were first Incubated. So if you incubate them now - when you're doing 2/8 - and they hatch BEFORE you have finished 2/8, they will not count toward the 9 Eggs hatched.

About the only thing you can do "early" in these quests is gaining the required Medals or Levels, like "Reach Level 25" in 3/8 and 7/8 "Earn a Gold Johto Medal". Everything else has to be earned at the correct time.

Which is a bit annoying, as I've pre-walked 4 Eevee's and I'll need to walk 2 more during this quest (or the same one's over, no significant difference there) but hey. It's not like having to evolve a Magikarp!

I remember seeing people reach that quest after they had JUST evolved a Magikarp. Cue the violins.

Does Umbreon require walking another Eevee? I thought just the Espeon did.

Both require you to walk them 10km prior to evolving, and to evolve them while they are your Buddy. The only difference is that Umbreon needs to be evolved when the game says that it is Night and Esperon needs to be evolved when the game says that it is Day.

I know how to evolve them, I meant for the research specifically. The step with Espeon explicitly states to walk an Eevee 10k, I was wondering if they repeated the task for Umbreon.

That's what the GoHub is posting for 5/8; Walk 10km with an Eevee, Evolve an Eevee into an Umbreon, Trade a Pokemon. The only difference is that you Trade a Pokemon instead of sending 20 gifts to Friends.

You won't have to walk two more. (Edit: seems like you will, because the walk an Eevee task comes up twice.) You can evolve both the Espeon and Umbreon from pre-walked ones, just rebuddy them to evolve during the right time of day, and then walk another one (Edit: two) to meet those quest requirement(s).

Frankly, I'm hoping to trade for a lucky Eevee in the next few days so I can power the resulting Espeon up cheaply and replace my current top one which has so-so IVs. (Edit: still hoping to do that.)
