Rhydon with Rock Smash

Just evolved a Rhydon with Rock Smash/Earthquake.
Does he have any use other than as a Snorlax killer?
I'm level 23 and he is currently my highest CP mon.
Just wondering what his best matchups are.

Apart from rock smash, it comes with earthquake too. So, considering its type advantages it could be a great electric type killer. But electric types aren't much of a challenge anyway. Water type outclases it for potential rock type kill. Anyways, apart from it's miserable dual type, it's a great attacker if you dodge.

Thanks for your reply.
He seems to be a good attacker but it's hard to find any pokemon he does really well against. It doesn't help that most gym pokemon here are just vaporeons and Gyrados.

I also have one with rocksmash at around 1,8k and use it mainly for snorlax, chansey and other normal type killing. not much use beside that as an attacker.
You can still use it as defender as it gets high cp but don't expect it to last very long

I have a 2388cp Rhydon with the same moveset. Since I have yet to hatch a Rhydon with Mud Slap + Earthquake/Stone Edge, he's my go-to attacker for Snorlax. He doesn't get STAB with Rock Smash since it's a fighting move, but since it's SE vs Normal type, he's great for that use anyway.

I've noticed with Rhydon, I stopped dodging the quick attacks now since he has a lot more HPs than say, Golem...

Still strong attack stats so I tend to just use it for non-water/grass types like Snorlax/Arcanine, etc...

Wait for stab mudslap... And stone edge. Rock smach is worse in everyway.

Agreed. In theory, Rock Smash has a type advantage against Normal mons (Snorlax), but the type advantage in Pokemon Go is weak and hence it does not make it better than Mudslap (but it's pretty close against Normal).

Mudslap is also more versatile and combine well with Rhydon's type (against Electric especially and Fire).

Rock Smash is serviceable (esp against Normal types), but Mudslap is better across the board. At 2000 CP, I would try it out against Snorlax until you get Mudslap.

Against Snorlax because of the type matchup Rock Smash = Mud. However normally it wouldn't because of STAB. So keep him, but don't power him up, in my opinion
