Research reward bait and switch

I've really been enjoying the "Adventure Week: Hatch two eggs for a rare candy" research task. Had three of them running today, one with no eggs done, the other two with one egg. Then I hatched a 2k Machop (bad IVs), and expected to get two rare candy rewards. Instead, both of the tasks changed to encounter rewards. I feel ripped off - I need all the rare candy I can get lately, with so many legendaries to power up (I never got Moltres, Articuno or Raikou). Oh, and yes, I'm sure they weren't encounters originally. I've been throwing those away. I suspect a bug caused by their being two of them at the same time.

Another thing - there's been all this talk of Solrock, Lunatone, and Rhydon as raid bosses, but I haven't seen a one of them. Our raid group chat transitioned to a different program, so I was offline for two days, and I've had to solo Aerodactyls for the last four days (did a Machamp before that).

Still liking adventure week, but unhappy about these two things.

Those raids are a bit rarer than the others, from what I've seen. Perhaps Niantic felt that they would be less popular. With Aerodactyl giving a chance at a shiny. But I have seen a few Solrock and Rhydon raids regardless.

I'm currently cooking 3X rare candy prompts and hope my fate is better than yours I've done 2-4 of these every day for the event. But I've not yet seen the glitch you encountered. perhaps you were just very unlucky.

Yes, I expect mine was an unlucky fluke. Did the second one just after midnight today, got a second encounter. Like Omanite is really hard to find right now, ....

Anyway, hope the third one stays as RC. We'll see.

The rare candy one is good but the charge TM task is better IMO. Have not seen or even heard of a Solrock raid in Australia, figure it's because they are regionals.

Yes, I like the charged TM task - using 5 Super Effective Charged attacks in a battle is kind of fun, and requires planning based on what's in the gym (and not taking it out before the charged attack goes off). But I've only gotten that one a few times, and it's not an adventure week one, it's a May task - hope Articuno in the box gives us something similar.

Solrock and Lunatone are regional, only the one normally available in your region will appear in raids. I've seen exactly one Lunatone and two Shuckle so far, every tier 3 raid seems to be Aerodactyl.

I had 3 of the same quest running, all 3 at the same time (i.e. all 0/2, then all 1/2, and now all 2/2). I knew I'd be rough on completing tasks the next couple days so I'm cashing in one per day.

The one I cashed in today gave me the rare candy.

Hope the other two don't switch to encounters, but nothing seems to indicate that they will...

Looks like a localized error. Maybe the game on your phone misfiled the rare candy graphic, so that research tasks that have been encounters all along just showed the wrong picture.

IMHO Adventure week has been the worst event to date .. certainly very boring! Only a very limited number of Mons are spawning and those that do really are of limited use for gyms and raids. Golem and Omastar are fine at the moment but if one believes that Double Rock Larvitar / Tyrannitars are coming soon then who will ever need Golem and Omastar? Last year Adventure Week was great due to the Larvitar (which rarely spawn in my area) and Rhyhorn spawns ... but those two were not invited to the ball / event this year. The buddy reward and insane "new stop" reward are good ... but that is really the only reason to play this event.

Yeah, the buddy candy and the rare candy field tasks are the only thing that have been worth it to me. No shinies and no really good IV's for the event pokemon either.
