The feature will be released "As soon as next week, and will definitely be out before the end of the month."

Niantic stated months ago: "before the end of the year".
Probably in the next two weeks, before the start Xmas festivities - Niantic employees will be on their holidays by then.

Posting this again because it keeps coming up.

What was actually said in an interview months ago was that they "Would like to release it by the end of the year". "Would like to" is not in any way equal to "We will". I'm glad we're getting it before the end of the year but let's not pretend what was said was a hard timeline.

Yes, they also wanted to raise the level cap by the end of the year, but with Xmas event and PvP coming out, I suspect that won't happen for a few more months.

That said, it does seem to be imminent. I'd expect within a week or two.
