Rare Candy budgeting

I try to keep a stock of 200 Rare Candy, allocating excess to legendaries. It's getting a little difficult to decide where to put them now. List is: Legendary/IV%/Current Level/# of candies remaining/potential power up candidates from later catches:

Articuno 96% @L30 55
Zapdos 84% @L31 66 (100% @L20 from weekly field research)
Moltres 87% @L31 35
Mewtwo 82% @L20 104
Mew 67% @L20 26 (No plan to feed the worst one possible)
Raikou 93% @L31 66
93% @L30
Entei 98% @L31 66
Suicune 91% @L20 66
Lugia 93% @L30 106 (96%normal/93% Shiny, both with 15 ATK)
Ho-Oh 98% @L30 78
Regice 89% @L20 49 (won't power one up until raids are gone, if then).
Latias 91%) @L20 66
Latios 100% @L30 143
Kyogre 93% @L30 80
100% @L30 (Have 82% weather boosted shiny with 15 ATK)
Groudon 96% @L30 112 (98%)
Rayquaza 98% @L35 101

Do you see places where I should be allocating rare candies? Or, should I allocate to "rare" pokemon like Absol (Nobody raids them around here. I've caught 1, a 93% with 15 ATK). Are there some of my "later catches" that deserve more power? Currently sitting on 1.4MM dust and generally have plenty of regular candy for all pokemon except legendaries.

I'm hoping the response isn't "Shut up ya filthy casual. Go ask your grandkids."

jk lol I would say the kyogre 100%, groudon, and rayquazza. Regice won't be worth it and mamoswine will out class articuno and the Articuno is already level 30 so I would just leave it. Never power up a suicune, latios, or latias. If you don't think you'll get another mewtwo pass I would also do the mewtwo at 82% for he is very useful. Don't power up an absol... your pokemon look very nice!

Thanks. I didn't plan to allocate any more RC to either Suicune or Latias. Latios is a 100% and already has 143 extra candies, so I may still invest some dust in him. Sounds like the weather trio is getting a lot of love, so I'm thinking of putting rare candies there, especially for the 100% Kyogre. On Groudon... It has 112 candies in stock currently. Better to invest those in pushing the 96% toward max? Or bring up the L20 98% as well? How does Rhyperior affect this analysis? Rayquaza has 100+ and will eventually get pushed past its current L35.

I wouldnt use RC on anything else than legendaries.

Id power up the 2 Raikou, 100% Kyogre (maybe shiny one too), shiny Lugia, and the Rayquaza.

First off, the ones not to power up, Regice suicune and the birds, manely as they wont be much use after generation 4 starts (mamoswine outclasses articuno plus theres that event where you can get more candy, zapdos alrady looses to raikou and raikou could very likely loose to Electivire/magnazone, and moltres is rivaled by blast burn Charizard which doesnt need rare candies). Ho-oh's not especially good given its poor moveset. Entei's questionable given previous statements about moltres, but can still pull its weight until heatran enters. The lati's are ok, but even at their best are still outclasses by rayquaza.

Well, as the regies are going to be the next raid bosses, and groudon and rayqyaza are likely to return, i'd say put them into the kyogre and groudon, they can handle the remaining 2 regi's and groudon. Rayquaza will be very helpful agaisnt other rayquaza raids and the legendary dragons from gen IV on (plus if its mega is added it will be made better), Lugia's a good tanky pokemon, but not many legendaries are weak to psychic, it will be handy for nonlegendary raids. Raikou's strong, but powering it up runs the risk of wasting rarecandy if electivire and magnazone outclass it. Mewtwo sill be a powerful pokemon for the rest of the series on, so its reliable, plus its megas will add onto that if they are implemented

As for other pokemon that are 'rare' they arent worth the rarecandy, you never know what kind of event may happen and all those candy can go straight down the drain when they didnt need to, and considering the gen IV legendaries are some of the strongest, every candy will matter.
(also helful tip, no real need to add if something's shiny or not, if it wasn't shiny and the IV's arent the best, you'd power up another nonshiny thats better, especially when the question was specifically about budgeting rarecandy. it may not have been intended, but it can come off as showboating)

Thank you for the analysis. Sorry. My intent certainly was not "showboating." Genuinely curious as to whether folks would power up a lower i.e. 93% shiny or 82% weather boosted shiny vs a 96% normal, if both had the same attack stat. With respect to Groudon, are you recommending maxing the 96% that is already at level 30? Or would you bring up the 98% to level 30 and beyond?

I do with whatever has the highet attack stat, if moer than one have the same attack, I go for the higher IV's, the pay off long term is better. Whats better, a max level 93% iv, or a max level 96 IV, even if the lower iv's weather boosted, you'd be missing out on a stronger pokemon. i'd only say go for the weather boosted one if this was a short term thing, as in boosting it mabye 1 or 2 levels on the strongest to bide more time for candies to power up the higher IV one further

I'd bring both groudon up, but which one would be the higher IV one first and foremost, but thats just my play style, I think in terms of final stats and long run, not at each level up

You power up a rayquaza to lvl 35, but stop powering a 100% Kyogre at lvl 30? That makes no sense.

Understood. I had 3 Dragonites and a Salamence that were already at Level 35, so I took Ray there too, to give him his rightful place at the top of my dragons squad. The 100% Kyogre at Level 30 is already #2 on my CP list, behind a lazy ape. I DO plan to take Kyogre further.

Clear winners: Kyogre, Groudon.
Make more L30 ones since that's where they outclass maxed non-legendaries of the same type. Then work on getting your best ones higher. Whatever happens, these are a lasting investment.

Second best choices: Raikou, Mewtwo.
Raikou isn't as good long-term as Kyogre and Groudon, but absolutely power them up if a big target for them reappears. Mewtwo is great, but yours doesn't have great IVs, so wait for another unless getting a new ex pass is impossible.

Kyogre is the clear winner... I'd take both the 100% and 93% to as high as you can if I was in your shoes.

Rayq looks like it already has enough candies to get to 40...
Groudon is second, probably take the 98% to max, although keep in mind you'll get more candies on his second pass.

After the weather trio, I think your best options are the Moltres and Entei because they're immediately useful. The raikou and 100% zapdos are nice too, although with Kyogre having just passed they probably won't see use any time soon, so you'll only be powering them for it to look nice (which, especially the 100% Zapdos, would be pretty cool).

Mewtwo sticks out like a sore thumb here. It's the best pokemon to invest in to improve your team, as it's the clear weak spot in your lineup. However it's a below-average Mewtwo at 82% (an average raid pokemon would be around 84% right?). I'd say you should concentrate on ex-eligible gyms (even if not tier 5 raids, since you have loads of resources and legendaries) and just try to get ex raids to improve your Mewtwo options...

I've had lousy luck with Mewtwo. 7 ex raids and my best is 82%. My wife has done 4 raids (caught 3) and has a 93%...

Consensus seems to be go as far as possible with the weather trio. Entei has been powered up for a while. Moltres sat at L20 until Regice arrived. I asked previously about the 100 Zapdos and was basically told "don't bother. Not much future use." So far, I've only powered him up when I've gotten the "power up a pokemon 3 times" daily task. I feel like 100% legendaries probably deserve it, even if not really useful. The Latios has a bunch of candy and will likely get the big boost. That said, extra candies are currently being allocated to Kyogre. I've been hording dust for a while and probably need to just bite the bullet and spend some...

If anyone is interested in results... The 100% Kyogre is now at L35, with 34 candies remaining. The 98% Groudon has been brought up from L20 to L 33.5, with 6 candies remaining. 98% Rayquaza is at L35.5 to get his CP over 3400. 100% Latios has been boosted from L30 to L35 and still has 79 candies..Dust supply is down to 1.2MM.
