Raid spawns

I've held the gym closest to my house for over 48 hours now and no Raids have spawned (I check through the remote berry system about once an hour during valid Raid hours). I thought Raids spawned randomly but now I'm not so sure. Is there some criteria that causes Raids to spawn more frequently?

A gym might not get any raid at all for a while, but there doesn't seem to be any criteria. I just saw my favorite gym from the park get a Machamp and now has a Rayquaza on it, all in 1 day. So it is possible that your gym might skip one or two days without raids, or may get 2 raids or more.

That's odd. We know Niantic loves money so allowing gyms to randomly go days without raids seems like bad business. I can't think of any good reason why every gym can't host 3 or 4 raids per day.

Well, what if 4 raids go in a row? Some people might not get enough time to take the gym, and some won't be able to show off their mons because a gigantic egg is sitting atop it.

Well I didn't mean back to back but I'd personally love back to back raids just for how much gas money it would save me. There's still gonna be at least an hour between raids to view or fight the Pokemon inside as long as Raid eggs exist

This is pure coencidence. Sometimes gyms can go without raids for a while. The only criteria I can think of is that raids don’t happen during night time and I don’t think they happen when it’s dangerous weather. Unless there is dangerous weather over there I think it’s just coencidence.

Oddly enough this is the first time I've seen Foggy weather in my area in-game. I thought maybe that was the reason but the next closest gym has already had 2 raids today (both Tier 1, boooooo)

Another reason for a gym to not have any raids is that an EX raid has been scheduled to happen soon. Once passes have been distributed for a Mewtwo raid, no other raids can take place in that gym until the EX raid is over.
