PvP win glitch?

I just battled a friend in Ultra League and beat him pretty soundly - only one of my Pokémon fainted - but at the end of the battle I got the “good effort” message, no progress on my ultra league badge, and my trainer journal says I “battled against” him instead of won a battle against him. Anyone else have this problem?
