PVP Expectations and other desires
Niantic recently announced that they will release the player vs player gameplay for the end of this year.
The other day I saw a video and I felt a great hype as that´s how I imagined the pvp would ideally be: X number of players of a team against Y number of another team fighting using augmented reality. Each player would represent its pokemon and they would have to dodge and move in the real world and throw attacks to defeat the opposite team.

Do you think something like that will be released?
As a complement to this post I will comment a feature that I would love to see in the game too:
Based on the idea to connect portals on Ingress:
Pokémon GO could have the possibility to connect gyms belonging to the same team so that you could define an imaginary line that binds the connected ones. In case you and your team are able to close that imaginary line all the players of that team will receive this rewards in the surroundings of that line: the defenders of your team will be stronger, the attakers too, you will see better spawns of pokémon in that zone, you will receive more items in the pokéstops, etc. The larger that imaginary line is the better the rewards are.
I've always thought this game is cool, but it would be much better if it was an strategy game, and not one depending just on how lucky you are and how much time you spend playing. I can't find no more motivation that way that collecting more and more pokémon.

The linked video looks very much like a battle mechanics ready-made for Pokemon Go: Aim the camera at your opponent, fire, and move in real space to avoid his counterattacks. Allowing this for groups instead of just two players makes it even better. I am kind of in awe right now - this is much better than what I did expect for PvP. The only drawback is that I will look like a total tool doing this in public. :-)
Edit: The more I think about this, the better it looks. Imagine how you will select your pokemon(s) for the battle - with multiple opponents of different, unknown type and teammates to back up your weaknesses.
So... the Trainer with the best phone and best connection wins? I have enough trouble right now with a barely perceptible lag on my phone that makes it incredibly aggravating to dodge in a normal Raid or Gym battle. Then you add AR mode on top of that?
Eh. I'll have to see it in action before I pass judgement, but this doesn't make me any more interested in PvP.
And you just know that someone's going to yell out "Do a barrel roll!" on a YouTube video and BAM! We'll have dozens of Dateline NBC-esque segments about the new dangerous craze of "Barrel Rolling" that is running rampant among the Teens of today, and the question "Is this actually MORE dangerous than the Tide Pod Challenge of 2017? TUNE IN AT 10 FOR MORE!"
I'm not expecting any real strategy in PvP other than "different movesets agaisnt its best counters" for each pokemon
I'm hoping they add some rewards to a pvp system, like extra candy for what you battled with or something, but over all, I dont expect it to be anything overly exciting about it without there being major changes to the mechanics for PvP battles (only those battles, not gym or raids). the games meant to be casual friendly, that doesnt mesh overly well with complex strategies, but I will be very happy to be wrong (In fact I hope they make PvP more strategic)
On paper it sounds like a lot of fun. Getting a group together to duke it out in an empty lot. Maybe put in our own barricades or obsticles to add a little extra.
The only thing I have to complain is my phone doesn't have AR and I'm sure many people playing don't either. If they put in some kind of PvP system and offer rewards they should have it available to all players.
