PSA: How to earn 3 extra candies at the event's start

If the 4x event works like the Halloween one (as I remember), when the event drops, your buddy's distance to the next candy is immediately divided by 4 and you get credit for distance walked pre-event. If that is still true, then you want to be close to 5km when the event drops. If you go over, you effectively miss out on 3 candies.

Thank you, excellent advice. I will make sure my Chansey has a distance traveled between 3.8 and 5 km.

oh yeah I confirm from the halloween event I got 4 candies with my dratini

On a related matter, does anyone know how this will affect Eevees? I just started walking one yesterday to turn into an Umbreon, and now I'm wondering if it's going to need to reach 10 KM even with the event, or if I can just stop after two candies.

The true requirement is two candies, not 10km. You are fine to do shorter.

Just note that this may have been or will be changed, but that is the current system to my knowledge.
