PSA: First time Niantic holds an event for a non-Western festival!

Happy Lunar New Year! For Chinese, this is the Year of the Dog. Hence canine Pokemon (like Growlithe and Electrike) will yield 300 stardust when caught.

Happy Lunar New Year as well! :-) It's a nice gesture, no doubt, although it's hard to even call this an 'event' given how it pales in comparison to previous holidays (although not Valentine's this year, obviously). It's more like an extended community day. Extra dust is always nice but it's not going to get me to play more than I've been playing.

I guess this is the new model for events going forward? Have community days once a month and then have much-shorter and much-less-exciting regular events for holidays and such? Not a fan, but hey, Niantic's gotta Niantic.

Damn, Ekans everywhere in 2025. Ponyta everywhere in 2026. Mareep everywhere in 2027!

I would love to see Mareep everywhere! Have yet to earn enough candies for Ampharos.

Ponyta looks cool; I would be more worried about a Rattata infestation in 2020 (though it could also be a Pikachu infestation).

Yay, Eevee became a dog, and Houndour lost its dog status.

Caught a Granbull yesterday and nothing special appeared to happen, I guess snubbull evolves into a full (beautiful) fairy

Pretty lame Houndour isn’t part of the event. Outside of Eevee, it’s the only dog with a decent role in the meta.
