I regularly prestige against Blissey. It's not that bad, so long as you go for 500-700 prestiger per battle, instead of 1000. And you continue prestiging all the weaker non-Blissey defenders above it. I usually get 4000-5000 prestige per series of battles at a gym with Blissey at the bottom, so I only need to face the Blissey twice. And the gyms I prestige up with Blissey at the bottom tend to be the ones that last and bring in a lot of coins.

In the 500-700 prestige range, I go for counters like Exeggutor (against ZH and/or Psychic), Flareon (against DG), and Machamp (against P).

My 2200 cp Machamp works against all Blisseys. I use him to prestige and attack 3000 cp Blisseys. My main Blissey attacker is a 2500 cp Exeggutor with es/SoB, and I have a 1700 cp Exeggutor with c/SoB that performs well...

So I guess that means Machamp or Exeggutor at 2200 cp really covers everything.

I have a double fighting poli wrath around 2200 and a Solar Beam Eggy that do well. Anything lower than that and I often time out.

In the mid range I have two Machamps one with legacy fighting moves (KC/CChop is underrated) and one with C/CC, plus another Eggy that get it done.

At the top end I use my maxed out 3400 dragon and 3500 t-Rex, and yet another Eggy with solar beam (2800 beast).

For me I use these pokemon for prestiging Blissey.

1.Exeggutor(C/SoB)~2200

2.Exeggutor(ES/SoB)~1950

3.Venusaur(RL/SoB)~2200

4.Alakazam(PC/FS)~2100

5.Vaporeon(WG/HP)~2100

6.Machamp(C/CC)~2100

How do you find the Venusaur? If they have ZH plus Psychic that could be problematic? I could try this sometime but not sure it is optimal.

It only works because of blissey's laughably low attack stat. So ZH is not to much of a big deal also I have my own system for making sure I always dodge Psychic.

a) below cp 2200

  • 3 1600CP Flareons (one has Overheat that is my main)

b) cp2200 - 2700

  • I have 3 exeggutors between 1735-2050CP all with solar beam depending on the blisseys CP.

c) cp2700 and above

  • My 2050CP Eggy with ZH/Solar Beam and/or I have a 2350 Flareon with FS/OH and a 2424CP FF/FT Arcanine if needed. I have a number of other Arcanines and Flareons between 2100-2300CP for back-up.

EDIT - I forgot I also have a 2120CP Dragonite with DT/HB that I can use. He's new to my list so I keep forgetting. Still trying to get more candies to power him up.

I've evolved 3 Machamps with terrible movesets for attacking. Makes me sad.

Man, all my Eggys keep getting psychic. Only 1 with SoB and one that I caught...

I do have 2 double fighting Machamps, so I guess I can't complain about the Eggys.

If Blissey is the bottom of the gym, I use a wild caught DT/O D'nite CP 1669, IV 64. If Blissey is 3 or more above the bottom of the gym, I prestige against the mons below it at 1/2 CP, and quit without taking the Blissey.
If I can prestige 2 - 5 mons at 1K each without any mons fainting, I'll take that and not waste my time on the Blissey or take a reduction in prestige points for using a high CP mon to prestige.

This is a good point. If the Blissey is 2nd or 3rd from the bottom I may just keep resetting my lineup and just prestige the bottom 1 or 2 mons over and over.

Unless I feel I can get through the Blissey with one Flareon @ 1600Cp and the rest of the gym will be worth it if I can take down 6 mons.

a) It's suicide to prestige against Blissey, or at the very least, a waste of time.

b) It's still suicide or insanity to prestige against Blissey.
c) Yes, it's still suicide or insanity to prestige against Blissey.

@Blackdrakon - Not if you can get your mon above the blisseys in the gyms.

It is obvious that you can't or aren't able to do it. But it can be done and the more practice the easier it gets.

I really like Eggys as they resist the Blisseys with ZH and are tankier than Flareons.

I have a hatched RS/CC Pinsir (~1550) that does great damage. If I pair it with a 1400 Flareon with overheat, I don't time out. I don't remember the CP of the Blissey I went against though.

1938 KC/CrCh Machamp (legacy)
1910 DB/DC Dragonite (legacy - and low IV)

That Machamp normally gets KO'd but does enough to make finishing her easy.

Under 2200 I might select a different team - got tonnes of eggs around 1600. Depends on how high the mon after bliss is.

I probably wouldn't mind prestiging against Blissey, but once you get your spot gym swiped after doing 8k+, you'll probably not bother again...

Normally, it's just not worth the time unless you are doing the 2k one or have a lot of time and potions/revives.

I am going to see if I can one day prestige against one with 1 Machamp and get 1000 prestige...Simulators say yes (in certain circumstances), real life play probably means no (due to dodge bug), but I'll need to power up my Level 4 Machamp first...(will do in a bit I think).

I am lucky gym sniping isn't an issue around here. The most stressful 2-5 minutes of my day is wandering around trying to get back in range of the gym to put my pokemon in...

I think Machamp is doable, at least against a pound one. My 1700 c/SoB Eggy can take down a Blissey, so I'm sure a lower Machamp could.

Generally speaking, as long as I get 3k+ when picking my 6 attackers, I'm okay on a run.

When Blissey is involved, that might require me doing something like 550, 700, 750, 800, 850

In the above scenerio that means 2 Prestigers dedicated to Blissey. and 1 for each of the other pokemon after it.

Which isn't bad at all when you consider it usually means Im using something like 2100 point Jolteon vs that 2800 point Gyrados rather than the normal 1400 point one I'd use.

Thanks for the info, I timed out twice against a 2300 blissey earlier and got only 550 prestige the other time. But I feel challenged and will try again later.

P.S. Thanks, Valor, for taking down this gym and leaving two blissies in the bottom. Otherwise, I wouldn't fight her. But I'll remember this ;)

It takes practice for prestiging vs Blissey. I battle and prestige gyms everyday and I timed out A LOT at first trying to find a good balance.

Also the balance comes into play with knowing how much you need to dodge to stay alive vs doing enough damage to not time out.

It is why I have three levels of prestigers. One at 1600CP, one around 2000CP and then a 2350CP group. It took a lot of trial and error. My training "medal" is 2715 gyms trained.

Question: If you're only having to increase the prestige by 3000, would it be wiser to just use your top attackers and go for 300 v. 500 prestige? Less time swapping out, less likely to time out, but of course more battles?

I think someone did a study and found that it is always better to get 1000 prestige...Even for Blissey, I think it's probably worth it to use 2 defenders to take her out and still try for 1000 assuming the Blissey isn't at insane levels...and there is softer juicier stuff past the Blissey...

This is due to power scaling where a level 20 mon isn't that much weaker than a level 30 mon...(now level 37 mons I guess with all the defender leveling ups).

I use Tangela's all the time to prestige against Vaps and Rhydons and if they have a crap move, 1 Tangela with great dodging can get near to taking out 2 Rhydon's...

Depending on movset also, a lvl 20 Lapras (I got a 1400+ FB/B one) can DEFINITELY take out multiple 3000+CP Dragonites.

That said, there is never a need IMO to do more fights which leads to more crashes, restarts, time, etc...A low level mon would take longer, but I don't think it's doubly as long...

My Typhlosion, CP 2073, with Ember/OH plows through a 2800 level Blissey, repeatedly, with 30-35 secs to spare. I was pleasantly surprised how it hits like a truck.
