Premier balls

Does anybody know how the mechanics work for granting balls on a Raid? I know that having the gym in you team colour grants some more, and also having yourself one pokemon defending that same gym. But what about the "Damage bonus"? Sometimes we get 3, sometimes none... can anyone explain it to me? Thanks a lot in advance!
