Powering up snorlax or wait

A couple months ago I finally found my first snorlax since that date I have walked almost 260 kilometers with him. I was curious, what should you guys do with him, he is 1893 with an 69 iv 10,9,12 and with sadly with lick and bodyslam. So power him up or just wait for a better one? Thanks

I've found 5 Snorlax.

42 CP (old version)
131 CP (old version)
1409 (old version) --> 1520CP, 91% IV, Lick/BS
1696 CP (old version) --> 1836 CP, 44% IV, ZH/EQ
2047 CP, 22% IV, ZH/BS

Basically what I'm trying to show is that it's very possible to "wait for a better one" and then never get it. I've been waiting for a better one for ages and finally found the 2047CP yesterday but then look at the garbage IVs (with 0 attack on top of that...).

Yours is pretty good. You have a lot of candies. You could try waiting a bit longer to go for a better moveset... but really there's no guarantee. And you've only found 1 so far... it could be a long time.

The starting CP is nearly too low but the IVs arnt bad. About 60 candies should take that to level 30. If you have over 120 candies Id power that up to level 30.
Im level 34.5 and Ive seen 3 wild Snoralax all small, 2 ran away and I caught one with 40 cp.

Just the moveset I would like my Snorlax to have for offense. If you want a defender, maybe you should wait for another one. http://imgur.com/a/xBHHv

I would say power him up, like mentioned above there could be ages before you get another one. While lick bodyslam is a great attacking moveset, it is also decent defensive. No matter what moveset snorlax has he's gonna be a pain in the ass to deal with. And with his high CP he will always be sitting high up in gyms.

"sadly lick and bodyslam"
Which is a good attacking moveset. Snorlax isn't the fastest attacker, but is consistently decent against most defenders, since Lick will do neutral damage against most defenders.

Body Slam is a good move. Good DPS and it's fast enough to weave in between quick attacks and still be able to dodge, whereas Hyper Beam you'll either end up being energy inefficient - and therefore lower your overall DPS - if you're not using it as soon as you reach full energy, or HP/potion inefficient - if you're using it as soon as it's available you'll be taking full damage because you can't dodge.

With Body Slam, you can increase your overall DPS without being HP inefficient or energy inefficient. It's fast enough that you don't have to wait for the opponent to use their charge move which means you're not stuck at 100 energy still doing quick moves.

Body Slam is only inferior in DPS compared to Hyper Beam if you're the type of player to just spam moves until 100 energy and then immediately use charge moves.

If you dodge or use charge moves only when the enemy uses their charge move, then Body Slam can end up doing more DPS compared to Hyper Beam in a realistic setting because you can't always use Hyper Beam when it's available, which lowers your overall DPS. If you're stuck at full energy with Hyper Beam ready, you'd have most likely done more damage with Body Slam and also taken less damage.

The currently relevant normal type Pokemon (that will therefore take reduced damage from Lick) are other Snorlaxes, Wigglytuff - although you'll be seeing less of them since the CP reduction - and Chansey, which are rare.

Those IVs are good but even if they were lower, that Snorlax would still be worth powering up. IVs are already the least important factor in battle in comparison to the actual species of Pokemon as well as it's moveset, and also make less of a difference the higher your base stats are. Given how rare Snorlaxes are, how can you know how long it'll take to find another one, never mind it also requiring better IVs as well as an equally good or better moveset.

Above average IVs and arguably the best moveset, on a super rare Pokemon? I would say be content with what you have and power it up. The "worst" case scenario is that you do find a better Snorlax after powering up this one.

Would that make the candies you spent on this one wasted? Not really, since this Snorlax is still really strong too, and you can still use both of them. The most likely outcome is that you won't find a better Snorlax and if you power it up, it'll help you recoup the investment costs by taking gyms.

That's a funny post. I'll tell ya, I've caught/hatched 19 snorlax and I would trade any one of them for the one you have. Don't bother waiting on a better one.

1 in 6 chance of the moveset you want. Probably be middle cp. Probably be middle iv.Its a waiting game that you don't want to play.

I hatched over 700 eggs before getting my first Snorlax, within the next 250 eggs I hatched five. I had been buddying the only one I caught in the wild in anticipation and stockpiled about 90 candies. Hatched my first one with Lick/HyperBeam 93 IV, powered him to max, what are the odds I get another anytime soon? Shortly after I hatch a 76 IV Zen/EQ, Zen is way better Lick, so I power this guy up to max and there's no way I'm getting another! Then boom, 90 IV Zen/Body Slam, have since been grinding and powering him up to max, and since hatched two more which helped with the candies, an 87 IV Zen/EQ and 82 IV L/HB, which I haven't touched since I'm sitting on 0 candies after 438 km walked with Snorlax. With how stupid the gym meta is now I'd wait, ya just never know what may pop out of your next 10k, and it really doesn't matter what you stick in the typical lvl 3 gym.

If buying incubators and always hatching many eggs at once you could wait for a new snorlax I suppose. Another one would hatch within a month depending on how much you walk (there is no guarantee that the new snorlax has the desired moveset or good IVs though).
But if he is playing the game for free (few incubators) then it could literally be 6-7 months before the next snorlax hatch.
