Powering up "different" mons

I'm a big fan of variety in this game - I think it adds a lot more fun to it! Which "unique" mons (outside of the usual top tier) have you decided to power up or max out, and why?

Personally I have powered up my:
- 2147 CP Slowbro (maxed out), as a defender and because he's my favourite Gen 1 mon
- 2061 CP Poliwrath (maxed out), as a defender
- 2029 CP Venusaur, as my main Grass attacker
- 2012 CP Gengar, as an attacker
- 1768 CP Starmie, as a Vape alternative for attacking
- 1690 CP Pidgeot (maxed out), as a cool Egg counter
- 1509 CP Tangela, because I love Tangela in this game

Agreed.

I've powered up one of my Tangela to 1700 and use her as my main grass attacker (Venusaur I tend to use as a defender),

I've powered up a Poliwrath & Slowbro to over 2000 (will max out when I get spare dust..)

One Electabuzz to 1880 to give me a change from my beloved Jolteons.

A Tentacruel is my current project as and when I collect candy.

Alakazaam - Confusion/psychic, my only perfect IV mon and powered up to the 2433 still is really powerful attacker...also gyms don't last long around here but he's done pretty good defending and took less potions to power back up.

Victreebel - Razor leaf/Solar Beam, near perfect IV and great Vap killer...enough said even after getting nerfed.

Venusaur - Razor Lead/Solar Beam, near perfect IV. Well rounded moveset for defending or attack, destroys Vaps...is just a BAMF.

Aerodactyle - Bite/Hyper Beam, I had the candies and even though he's not great for much, he's just a cool poke I wanted to get some use out of.

I have powered up to the max of my level the 3 starters because I like them and I got them with good IVs (85% +) and with the best offensive moves, and also Raichu and a defensive Poliwrath.

2606cp Alakazam maxed out attacker
2476cp Jolteon(100%) maxed thunder bolt attacker
2465cp Jolteon maxed thunder attacker
2470cp Rick Flareon was maxed 2 levels ago as an attacker
2204cp Poliwrath maxed defender
Are the only ones "uncommon/rare" tiers I've done

Before their buff I've been using jolteon as my primary dragon slayer since I don't have an effective ice counter as of yet. Now that gyrados is more common he's being slotted in more frequently to my team when before I would sometimes just use my vapes attacker who was selected for a different mon.

I completely agree with this sentiment and besides find it quite useful to have a variety of pokemon aside from a good Snorlax and an army of Vaporeons.

Flareon | 14/15/15 | Ember/Fire Blast
Tentacruel | 8/14/15 | Poison Jab/Hydro Pump
Hypno | 15/11/12 | Confusion/Psychic
Jolteon | 11/12/14 | Thunder Shock/Discharge
Slowbro | 13/11/15 | Confusion/Ice Beam
Gengar | 10/14/15 | Shadow Claw/Sludge Bomb
Exeggutor | 15/15/12 | Zen Headbutt/Psychic

All of these I try to keep at max level, and the variety of attack and defense options it affords is much more fun than simply using a bunch of Vaporeons for everything.

Agree 100%.

At the moment I've got the following maxed out/powered up:

2054CP Venusaur - Vine Whip/Solar Beam - My main grass attacker, love how Solar Beam just melts away Vaporeons.

2024CP Golem - Rock Throw/Stone Edge - Use him against Dragonite and Gyarados when I feel like mixing things up.

1902CP Nidoking - Poison Jab/Sludge Wave - Encounter Fairy types quite often, he just annihilates them, gonna power him up till 2000CP.

1860CP Sandslash - Mud Shot/Earthquake - Use him as often as I can, Mud Shot feels so much faster and deadlier than the slow and cubersome Mud Slap.

1561CP Pidgeot - Wing Attack/Hurricane - My favourite attacker, love the animation for Hurricane, use him against anything I can.

1352CP Butterfree - Bug Bite/Bug Buzz - The first Pokemon I decided to max out, my go to against Exeggutor.

2536 Golem rock throw/stone edge, love the animation
1741 Raichu was used all the time before CP change
2320 Muk (but who should I use him against?)
2187 Poliwrath love the bubble animation
1804 Golduck (cannot power him up now because he has been in a gym for 6 weeks!)

I think there should only be one of each Pokemon allowed in gyms. One Dragonite, Snorlax, Vaporeon and Lapras is quite enough. So I am preparing for that :)
